updating M.E.P v2

an updating is coming soon for M.E.P v2

i am reworking the bad weather becuase i realized that was too dark during the day .
some minor tweaks also at the clouds's color during sunset-sunrise
also i am reworking the seafoams .the new ones are ,in fact, Jaketoox's textures reworked to 'fit' as seafoams . here:
seafoams:

The best just gets even better!!!

I am also having problems with the sunhalo, I know that someone -IIRC it was OLC- gave instructions on how to edit the files and fix it, must check my archive, though it will be difficult to fin :damn:

It involved opening one of the files and raising the gamma or something like that.

The new wake for the submarine is gorgeous and so much realistic than anything I've seen before. May be the foam existed already, but it's the combination with this new colours what makes it so lively :D

The sea colour is great in bad weather because it still looks blue, and not grey as in other mods (I prefer and think it is more realistic a dark blue, but that's just personal preference)

If I manage to fix the sun, I'll send you the files for double check and add as optional patch if you want. I would however like to have a screenshot of how the sub shall look like in good weather, so I can use it as reference when tweaking it.

Thanks :salute:

EDIT:

Me idiot....found it in the thread you linked to in the first post :damn:, it was you who hinted the possible fix.

open with s3d the envcolors_atl.dat file and find inside there the values for SUNHALO COLOR.(note that the colors at [0] section are for the CLEAR sky)
enter [0] section and locate the sunhalocolor(in all six different situations). clic on sunhalo and then clic at the button that there is at the bottom right and heavily INCREASE the brightness . exit ,save and enable the mod again and tell me if you had any difference at sunhalo.
Will try it and report :arrgh!:

i am afraid that will not work  ! i am trying (with the assistance of Jaxa becuase i can't see the results on my monitor) to solve this problem but i am afraid that i can't solve this ! its totally strange ...a huge square appears around the sun and everything we tried (me and jaxa) didn't solve this. BUT you can give your shot and lets hope Onelifecrisis to have the kindness to 'fix' this. we really need him !

you don't have the exlusiveness of this proverb Jaxa ! he have it here also (Greece) and propably all over the world !

jaxa 09-20-09 04:46 AM

You have right, that means it's true proverb :).

When are you planning to release new version of MEP? I'd like to start new career with it.

After a quick try, the sub halo is working well for me in most situations (But not in all). The sun is still small like a golf ball and in clear weather with some mild clouds, it tends to lose the halo, as well as when viewed through periscope or any other filter that lowers the light level.

Not necessarily dark blue, more an "electric" blue mixed with the base dark blue you already have. The colours you have used are very good, but the water tends to look a bit liveless or flatter with them, probably because a slight mix with a colour that spices it up is needed.

The thing is, that if you look at sea water with at least small waves you will notice that the colour is not uniform because as soon as the wave rises even some centimetres, there is inmediately a play of shadows and transparencies that combines very dark blue with whatever lighter colour the water has in that part of the world. You have already a very good base colour, but a balanced mix with a livelier blue is IMHO even better.

F.e. in the mod by Kellerman SH3.5, based on yours, he has mixed a very bright green that would normally look odd, but that adds that lively touch to the water. I would suggest to use an electric blue mix in the parameters Amplitude/Fresnelcoef, in order to obtain an effect like this:

Ideally, the mix should be done with electric blue instead of that bright green to give this effect:

http://img230.imageshack.us/img230/3...12kiel2.th.jpg

But don't misunderstand me, the water looks very good already, it's just that I am striving for perfection :D

jaxa 09-20-09 05:14 AM

Hitman, I've noticed the same with sun lighting through clouds. But in fact sometimes in real life you can see sun without halo behind clouds.

Golf ball sun viewing by periscope or UZO or binoculars is probably stock SH3 bug.

look above the red letters
in fact the water has NO color! don't try to get it from pics! i can show you 100 pics of real water at clear day ,midday time, and you will see 100 different colors of water! what i am trying here is to make the water to look as possible as ....water ! it's only a game...after all
about your suggestion....you have pm

jaxa 09-20-09 06:01 AM

Makman94, could you try to dance with horizon fix from the latest OLCE and include it to MEP?
