A little light on the subject, you must also have a fever for flu. Anyway, the reason swine flu has people so worried, is that it is behaving very much like the epidemic in 1918. In 1918, it first appeared in the spring and was fairly unremarkable. After traveling around the world, it came back in the fall mutated and killed millions. The demographic of those who died, were people in their 20-40's, not the young and old. Swine flu has the same demographic which is the opposite of the other flues we experience seasonally. It takes at least six months to develop the vaccines we take to limit our flu problems. Therefore, any vaccine that is made for swine flu now, may not be effective in the fall, which is why stockpiles of theraflu are being created. In our favor if swine flu does hit us hard, is the much greater knowledge we have regarding droplet precautions and sanitation procedures. Let's just hope this flu does wimper back in the fall.
