Of course I haven't - I havent lost yet, and since this is the first real game I have played in at least a decade, I can't be TOO disappointed.

Besides - win or lose its all for fun. :yeah:

Tommorow it is mate - enjoy the rest.

Sorry, but you're dead. :timeout: Moving the Rook to echo eight and blocking the escape lane for the king cut it short tremendously.

Should I let run a computer analysis and post what the machine thinks of the match?

CaptainHaplo 03-12-09 05:57 AM

Ahh I didn't see that coming till you pointed it out - oh well - twas fun nonetheless. Good game!

Honestly - moving the rook didn't really shorten it - you could have done the same regardless. It was a mate in 2 (now that I see it) no matter what once you got your castle to C1.

As for a computer analysis, thats entirely up to you. I don't take this that seriously, but feel free to throw one up here if ya want.

And I will nod my head in expectation for your finishing - Rc1-c8#

[ Shake hands ]

Well, your position certainly was hopeless, and your doom began much earlier and already with the 4th move that saw you needlessly loosing material, but you could have delayed the end a bit, for example:

(computer analysis, Fritz 11WM engine)

1. +- (12.64): 16...Nh6-f5 17.Bc4-d5 Nf5-d6 18.Bd5xg2 f7-f5 19.Ra7-a8 Kd8-e7 20.Rc1-c7+ Ke7-f6 21.Nb6-d7+ Kf6-g6 22.Ra8xb8 Rh8xb8 23.Nd7xb8 Nd6xb5 24.Rc7-c6 Kg6-f6 25.d4-d5 Kf6-g5 26.Bg2-f1 Nb5-a7 27.Rc6xe6

5. +- (#11): 16...Bg2-a8 17.Bc4xe6 Ba8-c6 18.b5xc6 Nb8-a6 19.Ra7-d7+ Kd8-e8 20.c6-c7 Na6xc7 21.Rc1xc7

Though none of this would have changed the final outcome.

Indeed well played. I actually screwed up from move one - as I was not used to the arena app - so I meant to move the kings pawn instead of queens. A standard opening that lets me get a couple of pieces out.

It was fun - thats what matters. We can always have another go sometime.
