They usually find you. :)

I think they are part of one of the mods. I've seen them in the Marshall Islands.

Oh alright, playing with Trigger maru at the moment, havent found any. Perhaps that is because Destroyers kill me before iv been able to complete any Recon missions, ever.

Generally speaking they find you :yep:

Alot of the smaller island harbors in the asian chain are netted off.

If you ever run into one trust me you will know it.

Are there any nets or mines around the major Japanese naval bases like Hiroshima and Kure? I keep reading about people sneaking into these harbors and sinking major warships without much difficulty. Seems like it should be a mission nigh well impossible given how well protected these bases were in RL.

The nets are in a few mods now, plus stock. In stock, there are VERY few, and in harbors.

In my campaign mod that was in TM for a while, I added nets to Atolls to represent the REEFS that the game required, but did not have (PTO without reefs is like the ATO without... waves). Lurker took the idea and ran with it, adding even more.

So the nets are to fill in for reefs, which limited access to anchorages to a few passes per atoll (which are easier to guard than 360 degrees of open water).

It should be. It isn't. I'm working on that right now, actually :)

Do you get shacked if you run into a net? was cruising at about 60 feet of depth and i died, dont know from what but i died ;p

Yes, a collision with a net can easily sink you.

Remember, in most places in the modded game, nets are REEFS. Hitting a net at speed means going aground at speed.

Plot your course around shallow waters.

Really, if all the reefs were in, or even faked where it's hard to find good maps, the pacific has even more dangerous places. The entire South China Sea is bloody shallow as it is, imagine all the coasts, islands, etc, with lines of reefs.

There is some responsibility for the player, frankly. You need to not play like a tonnage hungry gamer, and act like a real skipper. Nosing even a little into an open anchorage like Wewak was literally Medal of Honor stuff. Going to Kure? LOL.

Gote some more questions ;)

About dud torps, launched 4 into a battleship and all 4 blew of to early, wind was blowing at 15 meters a second with huges waves, was that why?

and the SD radar, whats that? can raise an antenna for it.

I've never donne it myself but reading that others had made me feel like it was a bit of a major oversight on the developer's part. Seemed less a game based on history and more of a shooting gallery. :03:
