And yeah obviously if I say it's funky it's merely my opinion, no need to go into some funky relativism, you party pooper :D

You been talking to my wife. She calls me that exact same thing:rotfl:. That is, when she's not comparing me to Walter (in Jeff Dunham's shows).

Seriously, there's a difference between being noticed and ridiculed.

It's very boring, but you can't really tell him to go away.

I don't even like pots.
Why me Lord?

Because Letum, you are the chosen One. Ye shall go forth into the land and make pottery with thine hands and the clay of the Earth. And on the forth day, ye shall paint these clay pots with pretty colo(u)rs and re-heat them in a kiln. And on the morrow, ye shall sell these pots for a reasonably low price to all kindreds and tongues of the earth.
And low, on the sixth day ye shall repeat the process.
Amen:sunny:

DT, I hear what you're saying. And there certainly have been a few people who've been what I would consider insulting if I was the OP.

BUT, while I guess you deciding a few people have been insulting is noble... Forum cop is a moderator's job and I'm sure they will step in if they judge the remarks as personal attacks. I wouldn't spend too much time around here defending people from being insulted/made fun of, you could find yourself spending way too much time here. :)

Oh c'mon guys.

Geetrue is a gentle soul. So play nice. Supposing you are actually right, do you really want to be the person who ridiculed someone with mental issues?

If you want fair-game ridicule, go join Haplo's ego-fest in the American politics thread.

Or hit Steamwake for his stalker-like Obama obsession (although sadly he seems to have chilled out slightly recently)

or many others

And Letum went forth and created the pots by his own hands. And the people cried out: look, there is Letum the potter of the shire.

And there was a great tumult amongst the people; they cried "crucify him! crucify him! for he claimes to sell pottery at the lowest price, yet he charges enflated prices and uses cheap chinese labo(u)r.

I laugh out loud and keep walking. The same goes for "Repent sinners" signs etc.

Anyway, politely ignoring religious crazytalk is something I can't do, it just goes agains who I am, and as I allready said in this thread, I'm an arse.

Your honesty is to be respected. Can't say I agree with the attitude, but at least you know who you arse:D

I'll take that advice, but I'm usually too busy defending my own "wacky" ideas to defend others too often.:D Besides, I'm "lucky" enough to have plenty of time to spend.:p

Joe,
the guy is either ill, or a fool. If he is ill, his condition may detoriate if he is not getting help, and believe me, schizophrenia is something nobody would like to make jokes about, it must not but can get from bad to worse to worst. If he is a fool, he just got what is a logical consequence of being foolish. In both cases, illness or folly, you do not do him any good favour to normally respect his attitude as if it were repectable. Actually, you encourage him not to see a doctor or not thinking about the foollishness of his acting and saying, and by that you actually do real damage to him.

UnderseaLcpl 01-28-09 08:17 PM

I will only say that I protest the unwarranted mockery and trivialization of geetrue's beliefs.

Skybird 01-28-09 08:25 PM

Beliefs?
If somebody tells me he hears voices I immediately think of mental disorder.
And if it is not that, but beliefs indeed: nobody has a right to demand from others that they must respect his beliefs. It's just beliefs, and any privileges demanded because of them, are undeserved.
Keep thy religion to thyself.

UnderseaLcpl 01-28-09 09:44 PM

Geetrue isn't demanding respect for his beliefs and neither am I. I'm just asking for a little civility. There's no reason religion should be more taboo than any other subject, and there is no reason why we can't be polite.

I think if someone claimed a secular person was talking to them in their head there
would be a similar response.

Something like: "Hey Chaps! Scott of the Antarctic just told me SHV's release date!".

Digital_Trucker 01-28-09 10:08 PM

Perhaps I'm actually reading between the lines for once, but does the original post say anywhere that the original poster was the one who received the so called "prophesy"? Just a thought.
