1. thats the damage from the Camel Spider

2. Nope not me, from what I red in the blog where I found that picture (dutch language) there was no news about the recovery.

That wound is close to losing that finger. Its not the bite, but the resulting infection that is doing that for him. He might be allergic to it.

This clears a few things up. They don't attack camels.

Sometimes you don't know you are handling something until it is too late.

Reminds me of this incident last summer. I was driving home from Maine and we stopped for a coffee. As we were getting ready to leave i felt something on the small of my back under my shirt. It felt like a wood chip or pebble, something like that.

Anyways I reached back, grabbed it and pulled out a very alive and angry hornet! :o Luckly i had him by the back and he couldn't reach me with his stinger and the window was open so I was able to quickly chuck him out.

For the next 250 miles I kept imagining i felt another one moving around under my clothes.

Camel spiders are NOT spiders. They form a separate order of arachnids, like scorpions for example.

EEW, that spider is really nasty and a bite by it.... really hurts

Fortunately I am living in urban area and therefore have much less chance in encountering this pesky creature (cockroaches are far more common)

I've seen that picture before. Been circulating on the net for some time. Im not sure which spider its attributed to, i think a brown recluse that went untended for some time. I could be mistaken though.

The picture of the guy's hand is a brown recluse bite. Their bites cause necrosis of tissue that can keep coming back for years sometimes. I have heard of some people being treated with a stun gun or electrical shocks to stop the damage (they do the same with rattlesnake bites sometimes).

Since we are in a competition to gross one another out, here is what a good rattlesnake bite looks like:

The Camel Spider isn't a spider at all (they have 10 legs and spiders have 8) and they aren't venomous. They have big fangs and can give a painful puncture wound for a bite but other than that they are harmless. My buddy in Las Vegas has gotten something similar in his garden and they are pretty big and scary but that is about it. I was more freaked out by the Black Widow I nearly put my hand on when I was out there that was by his swimming pool.

Sweet Jesus...:o

I don't like snakes and I HATE spiders... and after viewing some of the other photos of injuries from these creatures, I have now come to the conclusion that I hate BOTH of them... especially spiders. I'm sorry, I just don't love anything that has 8 legs and thousands of eyeballs.
