I've recently started visiting this forum again out of boredom. This is my first post in at least 2 years, probably more.

I got involved in this whole mess with SHII years ago, then I moved on to Sub Command, and finally DW. I remember hanging around the IRC chat rooms with a lot of the people from here and some other site that was dedicated to a SHII league. It used to be real busy. I remember people getting together to play nightly. I have the feeling that it's not like that anymore. What a shame, it was a real blast.

I'm going to try to get DW up and running tomorrow and polish up my sonar skills. Hopefully I'll be ready to play online again soon.

What are some of the updates and mods that everyone is using for online play these days?

Your best bet would be to start everything on Auto except sonar. Create a simple mission with adding a few contacts of different classes each time you complete it and hone your sonar skills that way. In this fashion, you'll soon recognize the characteristics of each one without the stress of wondering what the heck this contact over here is when it's too late as you have a torpedo in your aft quarters.

Fire control autocrew is more fail than sonar autocrew and should never be used, regardless of skroobishness. Just preempting a "tech support" question/complaint. ;)
