Living here, it is not the colour of ones skin that tends to be the problem ,it is a clash of cultures.
On the one hand we have a culture which sits happily typing away on this keyboard, familiar with the moden world and it's technology.
On the other we have a culture, which by common definition is "less advanced", and along with this comes a different set of values , and perhaps even morals.
When a common value system is shared there will be less strife.
Getting to the common set of values is the difficulty, because as children we are brought up with core beliefs. Not only that but throw religion into the mix and you have a situation that will take generations to solve.
Once again this is not a black/white thing it's about being "Savvy" in the modern world. I have black collegues at work with whom i have closer ties than many"whites".
This is because they subscribe to the same value system that i do, predominantly that of the western world.
(Some of which were instilled in me by my parents and cheesy tv shows like Dallas, Airwolf and Knightrider:rotfl:, which was what we got mainly during apartheid (ps:that's a joke:D)
People talk about redressing the disparity in wealth issue, but it is meaningless without the education to utilse the wealth, which one culture does and does well, whilst the other remains envious.
The old story of give a man a fish, he eats for a day, teach a man to fish he eats for the rest of his life.
I do not think the solution is just to give someone shares, bacause A:there is no appreciation and B:he will have aquired them without the "knowledge" to make them go further.
As for Mugabe, looks like he's gonna turn tail, by all accounts he's making a deal with Tsvanguri.it will be interesting to see how many refugees here go back.
