Captain lurker (aka lurk, lurk), I run FOTRS and your stock version may run on that mod!!:D
|
This is the stock version without change
http://wwwnew.filefront.com/14355005...ver-Stock.rar/ This is a version that will support both TMO 1.7 and 1.8 http://wwwnew.filefront.com/14355001...2-over-TM.rar/ Special note about the TM version. This mod over writes the "Nite Scope" mask on TMO I have no plans to make any other versions of this mod. |
Thanks:yeah:

My crew says,
"I am not worthy!" Now maybe I can hit something. Thanks for the link, sir. I call it lurker's link.:haha:(i love my own jokes.)
|
I manually did this mod with RFB via the 21 or whatever changes to the ini file and it broke the periscope compass tape.

stock mod
I tried the stock mod on FOTRS. I set up for a Dick O'Kane 90 degree attack at 800 yds using manual targeting with the Easy AoB, and picked off a two large troop ships and one medium passenger ship travelling convoy style. It was a single attack with a salvo of six shots, two for each ship. Hit them with two shots each. The scopes looked good.:yeah:
Then I blew a single attack on two freighters usig aft tubes at over 3,000 yds. :06:I must have been over enthusiastic. |
Frederf, hope you made a backup
Extract, & use JSGME
|
Of course, I took a copy of my existing menu_***.ini file, put it into a JSGME folder, made the edits to it according to the differences listed in post #11, and then enabled my own little JSGME mod.
First of all, extract WHAT? There is no file. Filefront link is no good. Second, don't put content information in your reply header... I had no idea what you were saying until I noticed that. Third, even if I had the file from Filefront, I haven't seen a RFB version of this mod. If I enabled the "for stock" Optics 2 menu***.ini file I'd lose out on the changes that RFB makes to that file compared to stock. Lastly I found the hard-to-see user link to it. |
It's a ....
I see it now. It;s a love fest! (But I am enamored with my mod. Do I get apromotion?)
|
Ewww, the camera.dat file in Optics2 breaks all the wonderful freedom of RFB's.
|
Yes, I wonder why all these old mods are being dug up out of the grave when the state of the art is so much better today in all the major mods.
Frederf: if you could post the stock game version here and in the downloads area, possibly someone will pick it up and release an RFB version. |
You know it just occurred to me that if you want juiced optics, your best bet is Capn Scurvy's Maxoptics, which increases your periscope and binocular magnification as well! It preserves the camera in RFB and TMO with separate versions for those mods.
I won't touch the thing with a ten foot pole, as I like realism, but you might like it. |
I thought MaxOptics was just for 1.4 and I'm running 1.5. Honestly given an hour I could probably merge the good Optics2 changes with the RFB changes.
There are all sorts of weird unadvertised "extras" with Optics2 like how the 2D heading gauge is even smaller which makes precise inputs even harder and the blue stopwatch hands are totally wtf. I also noticed that the nice Attack/Obs scope different reticule patterns and overlays was lost as well. As for realism, I figure Optics2 is closer to reality in terms of resolution density. It's still 1x/4x zooms (right?), just larger viewports at the same FOV so each of the screen's pixels is a smaller fraction of the overall so the size of the pixel is less in the way of seeing what there is to see. |
