I mean they're tagged as such, and easily avoided... if perhaps your mother force-fed em to ya as a child and now you're dealing with repressed childhood memories or something.

Possibly a solution would be to gain a moderator's approval for a poll. Have the option locked except for moderators who would post your poll thread after you PM them with the details. If the moderator thinks its not needed or a waste of time then they have the option to turn you down. Would stop repeat polls and silly subjects clogging the forum.

Of course this would be dependant on the moderators being willing to do the extra work of posting polls besides....err... moderating! :ping:
