There's only one real submarine in WW2 I'd vote for as my favorite, and that's the Typ XXI. But it's not on the list, so I voted for the Baleo. :yep:

S for Sugar, that's the one I like:cool:

Gotta go with my current one. Balao. In fact I am capt'n of the USS Balao!
Started with an S and have worked my way up the models!

Like the one I gots now much better than the others.

Me too. My Dad had one like this on the Fox river, Algonquin, Illinois in 1952. Talk about a lady killer. :arrgh!: They were all over that boat. Hey, I was 16 at the time, drove it more than he did. :sunny: :|\\

Hmmmm.

I love the S boats because they handle a lot like U-Boats. But I have to go with the Balao because Kraken was a Balao. It was my wife's grandfather's boat in WWII. She was no Barb but did her part to win the war.

S boat comes in third, actually quite suprised, didn't think their was as many Sboat fans out there. Good to see though:up: :arrgh!:

Having served on the USS Segundo SS-398, the Balao class is my pick. The motto for the Segundo was "Second to None".........................DBF...........

. Let see, they had operation drumbeat but hey, the uboat did hang out around the Panama Canal lurking for merchants and submarines.

I'll take a US fleet boat over a Type 9 uboat any day of the week.

What is it we all loved about type 9's, eh? more range, more surface speed, more torpedo's (tubes),

A fleet boat has all of that, and NO external stores! Plus radar that works.

While i detest US submarine and German submarine comparisions (because the US didnt make a type 7 equivlant, only a type 9 equivilant), ill happily compare gato's and balao's to type 9's any day of the week :88)

AVGWarhawk 08-14-07 02:23 PM

I like the type nine because it is a good looking submarine, but apples to oranges, a fleet boat would be my choice to go into combat with.

Ducimus 08-14-07 02:25 PM

I have to admit, the type 9 Turn/3 tower did look pretty cool.

(but the Fleet boat towers had better functionality  )
