You MUST also install GWX under the Administrator account. |

A fundamental question, how many installs of SH3 do you have? If more than one, are you sure you are running the one you installed GWX into? You certainly wouldn't be the first to say no. ;) Failing that, email me your en_menu and en_help files (email address is in ther SH3Cmdr Help file). I'll have a look. |
Morning JS, I only have one install of SH3, and this last time I did everything as Admin. Anyway, sending you an email with the files. I appreciate your help!

OK, this is Vista related (guys, pls specify if you are using Vista when posting problems as it DOES make a difference).
I'm posting this here as I don't use Vista, so can't help much further. Basically, SH3 is ignoring the installed files and referencing a cache storage of the original files. I am aware that this can happen with Vista thanks to its permission based approach. Indeed, I can recall that some players here have experienced this very problem. However, what I can't recall is how it has been fixed. So, hopefully someone here can recall and find the thread/post that provides the answer. |
Thanks JS! Silly Vista :D Anyway, like you said, hopefully someone will see this and point me in the right direction about this. Thanks again.

I take it you have looked through this thread ?

Yep re-reading again now, and I have a suspicion as to why this is happening, like JS said Vista is probably not recognizing the new en_help and en_menu files... why? Well, this whole time I have kept a folder in the desktop named "SilentHunter Stuff" and that's where I kept the exe's for GWX, SH3Cmdr and some backed-up files (perhaps even en_help and en_menu, not sure)... so when I uninstalled and removed everything related to SH3, I never touched the desktop folder, since I needed to install the mods... so with VISTA as picky as it seems to be, I think I need to keep that folder somewhere else (burn it to a CD or DVD or something like that), so when I uninstall again it has NOTHING what-so-ever in the harddrive related to Sh3. Then install again, making sure to run everything as Admin.
The weird thing is that when I checked those two files in the Sh3 directory they looked like the GWX files, but as JS pointed out to me, when I attached them to an email and he opened them, they were the stock files.... so weird. Well, I will try this tonight, I'll let you know how it goes, hopefully I can report some good news! Thanks again to all. |
Also after uninstalling, I think I will do some disk clean-up and see if I can get rid of any files that are cached...
|
I am pleased to announced I got it to work properly!! Did all the things I mentioned, and now everythings seems cool with the F1. Sounds like it was Vista's indexing and caching causing to reference (some) of the original SH3 files instead of using the new GWX files.
Thanks to all of you who have helped me with this, I really appreciate, you guys are the best! |
Glad to hear your sorted
