I don't think there are near enough IX vs. VII threads. Could someone please start another one for the sake of the children? Thanks!

I just decided that the IX is my winner for the VII vs IX battle.

Both types are good, but I prefer Type IX. Gives you an oportunity to reach much more interesting and distant locations.
Sure, entering a convoy in VIIC rocks. But on the other hand, what can beat the feeling of hunting down enemy vessels near Mogadishu, or Ceylon ? With strong feeling that all the mess in Europe is soo long way away :sunny: With VIIC, you just can`t have it. On the other hand, VIIC is much better for somehow quick actions. I mean, these boats have better maneuvrability and diving time and most torpedoes stored inside the boat - you can get them somewhere around the Isles to hunt down a convoy in one-two nights battle, then come back to base and make another such patrol and another one in the same time you`re halfway on IXD2. Still, the feeling. |
Why argue?:nope: They are both good at what the do so use em both in different campaigns and have fun doing it.:yep:

Not me; it's "Type two-dee, type seven-see, type nine-bee, and type twenty-one."

Once you get 100,000 tonnes on a VII patrol, you qualify to discuss which sumbie is best. :smug:
I like catching convoys a long way from their destination and visiting them after dinner and for morning tea, leaving a trail of sunken ships on the chart. For that, I need a IX. :arrgh!: |

IX for me:up:
Just sunk a Dido Class 56,000 tonnes with 4 eels, and I've got loads of eels left. |
A dido crashed into my conning tower and rolled us on our side. Glad you sank the bastard.
