The morse is cool medico - its amazing when you think abouthow we can change a simple message so much.

From now on ladies and gentleman we are going to start using the Kriegsmarine abbreviations for punctuation, that is if you'd like to. It should hopefully make messages much easier to read once they're decoded.

Y = Comma
UD = ?
XX = Colon
YY = Dash/Hyphen
KK = Parentheses

To use them however you`ll need to enter them as their assigned values: ie. in your original message before its coded exchange any periods with an `X`.

becomes To get your simulator to decode those characters automatically, click the white output text scroll that appears at the bottom of the machine. It gives you option for decoding. Deselect "Copy as Groups" and then that allows you to select "Convert Abbreviations".

To keep the neat 4 letter groups for posting your code have the output set to `Group` when coding and set it to `Convert` when decoding.

one problem though P funk, my message above, i've used the abbreviations, but the problem is the "smart clipboard" is changing words where I have actually used the letter Y into commas or slash for the double Y and also where I need to use the letter X :roll:

If you leave the "auto covert abbreviations off" the message body is fine, I think you are better off to do a little manual english "decoding" once the message is out so it reads nicely hehe. The X's Y's and YY's are still in the message text....No doubt the radioman / enigma operator on a U boat had to do the same with decoded german messages anyway ;)

Decode with `Convert` on.

I can get all the punctuation in properly by not using any `Y`s or `X`s. So I do that before I encode it and that way you can decode it without having to manually change the letters to punctuation.:|\\
