I can't see any FSAA checkbox/dropdown option in the graphics option page.

Has anyone else got this ?

No idea how to set FSAA. Anyone help ?

Thanks,
Kevin.

Plus all of the shots show jaggies that should be gone with AA. This can be seen on the cables on the subs and ships. If there are pixelated breaks in the cables (which there are), then AA isn't working.

Not meaning to sound to negative, it looks a hell of a lot better with higher resolutions now, but I'm yet to be convinced about the AA.

It depends of how much AA you force. With 4xAA you can still see some jaggies at 1280x1024. But it is much better now. Higher AA is nice but it kills the FPS.

Can someone post a shot of SH4 on full AA then?

Here's what full ATI 6x temporal AA looks like on mine when it's working. I used Il2 as an example:

Notice the cables on the aircraft, and how they look at a greater distance:

Now what it looks like in SH4 with the same AA settings:

As you can see, SH4 isn't affected by the driver-forced AA settings at all.

Errr....no. FSAA does not magically remove ALL jaggies, it depends on the resolution and the factor of AA how smooth the grafics will appear.

On my system forcing FSAA via the NVIDIA control panel works just fine, this is a shot at 1024x768 resolution, with 4xFSAA. You still see some minor jaggies, but that's to be expected at that res. It doesn't detract from the fact that FSAA now works with SH4.

@ Boris: why do you use temporal AA? Did you try to force normal 4x/8x FSAA?

Looks a lot better now (in ref to PB's screen above).

On a side note, the forums sure are taking a beating at the moment ... very slow.

Hmmm...looks like you MUST "force" it then via the GPU menu.

I cant see any options in SHIV to toggle or adjust AA? Is the only way to use AA, to force them?

Unfortunately not, I'm on 7.3

I might try going to older drivers...

Yes. There is no option in SH4. But where is the problem to use your driver? I always use the driver to set AA and AF.

ParaB 04-17-07 11:39 AM

Boris: again, why do you use temporal AA? I always thought there were problems with temp aa and low-ish (<50) FPS. Did you try it with normal FSAA?
