Communism can only work in very small, and isolated, communities and even then it is unstable. It will never work in any social group thats too big for everyone to know everyone else without quickly degenerating into totalitarianism.

That utopia doesn't exist now, it didn't exist in the past, and it won't exist in the future. Whenever man strives to improve his existance equallity cannot and will not exist. The very act of improving man's existance has and will always raise some above others. Be not cinical of those achievements. Those are the same achievements which brought us democracy, human flight, radio, television, the telepnone, CD/DVD, indoor plumbing, soft toilet paper, safe food, clean water,
the computer you an I are using now. Should I go on? Look at everything which has been acomplished in the last 300 years. Do you really want to go back to 1707?

Religion has never been eliminated (or spirituality)...it's a fundamental human need.

Is it? I don't believe in any religion, nor do I believe in any spirituality. I believe in the now. This life, and helping as many people live as comfortably as possible through it. Obviously religion, nor spirituality, is not a fundamental human need.

In a Communist society, ideas and inventions will be brought to us much much faster. The very fact that competition and money doesn't exist allows people with ideas to actually go through with them, without worrying about ending up on the streets broke, or with a lawsuit up his ass.

So any idea or invention no matter how stupid or useless is going to be supported by the state? If not then who gets to decide what should be?

Competition is vital as it provides the impetus for improvement. Without competition things either stagnate or are acted upon based on politics rather than sound economic sense.

There's no better spur for innovation than cash. The greatest advances may bhe works of passion and dedication, but the overwhelming majority are cash cows. No harm done, usually.
This constant called "human nature" is being proclaimed, does anyone real y believe that a certain set of attitudes prevail in every person regardless of situation, towards economics, shelter, agriculture, etc? Sounds like rubbish to me...the only human constant I can spot is a kind of blindness

Hmm. I guess that is why America has always out invented the old Soviet Union? The proof is in the pudding. Ideas survive because people like them and make them survive - this will always happen, and at a tremendously faster rate in a capitalist society than any state controlled idea.
