Scalelokt, where you in an S-boat?

It really was not safe to go much deeper than 150 feet in those old boats. A newer Tambor, though, should be safe to 300 feet.

Yes I know it's a Pacific Sim but it has a world map and Neuwerk is in wrong place ( I worked a time on Neuwerk :smug: )

There are reports:

http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/t...5/m/6131048245

that chronometer in SH4 doesnt work at all in manual targeting mode. We need people who have the game already to confirm this. If this is true, this would be a critical game breaking bug.

confirmed. :(
it'll even occasionally crash the game if you try to use it as advertised.
of course one can always manually take bearings and ranges and use the chronometer's stopwatch function to calculate the speed (ie the "ol' fashion way")...

TopCat 03-20-07 07:58 PM

The chronometer really does not work for auto-calculating speed, i've just tried for at least one hour.

And more:
If you want to lock a target with the binoculars there's a message that you cannot man the deck gun because of the rough weather. But you can man it with the button at the bottom of the screen.

I engaged a Japanese Convoy with two destroyers one of which I passed at a range of about 400 meters. It did not took notice of me. So I fired at it with my deck gun. It did nothing and went its way. Absolutely ridiculous!

and, and, and ... what a buggy mess! :damn:

Well, that would be critical game breaking bug #476.

We are the beta testers.

No v-sync.

I even have v-sync forced in the driver. It still doens't work.

Hans Schultz 03-20-07 09:25 PM

Here is one that infuriated me about 20 min ago.
I was doing a surface attack (in my Sargo Class) using the TBT I had a 90 degree angle on the japanese ship and i can launch my bow torps?! but i can lauch stern ones! I'm going to try a duplicate the encounter and will post back. :damn:

Ark 03-20-07 10:04 PM

Environmental lighting is wrong:

The sun is directly above me, so, where's the sunlight on the sub?

Yeah, so it seems. But I found the phrase critical game breaking bug very funny. I guess everyone has their idea of a showstopper. I kinda like that watch, even if it isn't very useful for determining the speed of a ship. Not a critical game breaking bug, though. More like a thorn in Lassie's paw.

Now, games that have routine crashes to desktop, especially subsims that require hours of getting into position and getting ready to fire a salvo of torpedoes... when that happens it's like Godzilla with hemmorhoids. :o

Ive just experienced the random number talking crew bug others have mentioned. Started in a deck gun battle in career mode. After ending career and loading new games they're still at it. Had to quit to windows and reload to shut them up.

Oh and a 9 day fog and heavy rain storm in that campaign. Still going when i quit.

So You've experienced this also...its gotta be a bug.

Schlageter-JG26 03-21-07 01:49 AM

Deck guns accuracy is wacked. Manning it personally to fire, I cannot fire it when using 1st or 2nd level zoom settings. Let's say a target is 1500m away. In SH3 you'd set your range to 500 and be hitting it just below the waterline or so. In THIS game, you set it to 500 and it really fires out to +8000! Switch your sub's position or aim over the other side and now your aim is funky and you have to aim "up" to 5000m just to have the round impact practically next to your sub. Ridiculous! I found that aiming DID work ok when I did NOT use the zoom views, but that makes it pretty much useless and a serious PITA as far as I'm concerned.

Experienced a few others with the sound, crew, no damage meter, and had one glitch where the crew would NOT reload the fore tubes. I had fired all my torps and had 3 left in supply, but no matter how I rotated crew or played with the auto vs manual torp load settings they would not load them. Then when I radio'd base with an update it said I have 7 torps left when, in fact, I only had the 3. What a PAIN! I was in Japanese home waters just leaving a port where I sank two tankers and turned tail..... and I now have no torps to defend myself with?

One more.... granted, this was my first patrol and I set it to Easy but.... I went after a convoy and sank one DD. The others turned my way for a while but bugged out once I went to silent mode while submerged. They literally left the convoy and went miles away out of view. I surfaced and opened up with the deck gun on everyone..... coincidentally, the rest of the convoy split into three general groups.... and they all stopped so I could shoot them easier. Nice guys! :ping:

TO enable v-sync do this:

go to my documents\sh4\data\cfg and open main.cfg

Under [video]

make Synchronized=Yes

That will enable v-sync.
