Hello Mr. Treadwell / Ballistix,

Welcome to Subsim.com!

Real Life has kept me from posting sooner. I wouldn't worry too much about the negative static you've received so far. Generally speaking, this is one of the friendliest forums around... (Oh yeah... just like anywhere else we certainly do bicker sometimes... but even that is born from the love of what we do.) and on occasion negative people make the most noise.

A few here are "gun-shy" for good reason. They were screwed over by someone else. My team has undergone its own ordeal with theft original un-released material very recently as well.

That being said... there's no reason anyone should flame you (publicly or privately) for doing a thing that is mutually beneficial to all. As long as the freeware mods we produce here... remain freeware that is freely accessible to all with no hidden catch... EVERYONE WINS!!!

I don't think that the average user generally puts a whole lot of thought into the future of where submarine simulations are going tomorrow... or the next day.

Sub simmers and submarine simulations remain in a niche... albeit a niche that has gotten LARGER as time has gone on. I feel this is due to the hard work of freeware modders that keep such things alive much longer than their initial shelf-life.

The originating company makes more money as a result... which motivates them to build MORE cool stuff for us... wash, rinse, and repeat!

I am certain that Ubisoft understands this concept... and I could babble on and on about it.

In short... LIFE is short... people can either look at this as a rare opportunity for increased visibility... which will bring us more talented modders... which propagates our unusual species:sunny: ...

... or as some will, allow paranoia to prohibit progress.

Finally, I think that out of common decency... a man should be respected until reason exists to revoke such respect.

In a few hours I will have a PM for you.

In the meantime... here's your emergency escape gear. (THUMP) It's not entirely useful in an emergency... but will keep the smell of Bernard's feet to a minimum for a time... ummm after the smell comes back... you reeeally need to replace the potash cartridge.

Aye Captain!
I have your private message. We are going to download the Grey Wolves mod. I'd like to suggest you let us wrap it up in a winrar installer so that it is one EXE file? That way we can deliver a single file and it will extract your file and run your installer at the end? Actually, how about this, we'll do an installshield installer for you. One would have to know where the SH3 install directory is but once we have that we could do the rest...the offer is there.

At least we'll do the winrar extracting EXE to make it a single file. As I say I'd be happy to do the Installshield one for you, if you send us some images, or point us to image for your mod we'll brand the installer too for you. :)

Regards,
TT

This is great!

After reading this thread I finally installed Gameshadow.

When I installed SH3 for the first time, I chose not to install Gameshadow, because I was a little suspicious of it.

Now I can see it's a great tool.

Thanks Ballistix.

I'm sure you mean that in the sense of an increased number, and not modders with more talent. I mean, the guys you have are already among the most talented...

Naw, everybody knows exactly how to read that. It just jumped off the page at me, so I couldn't resist.:rotfl:
