Of course GWX isn't finished yet and is still being tweaked but given how much more I enjoy SH3 with GW1.1a, I'm sure if I were to purchase the game out of the box as if I had installed GWX already, then the game will be worth 2-3 times more than what I payed for the unmodded version.

All of these "improvements" should have been included by the SH3 developers. Look at Bethesda Softworks, they've been selling plugins for Oblivion, cos they either didn't have the time to include it in the original game or were just looking to make a quick buck. Regardless, I feel it's daylight robbery , taking out the best parts of the game and then forcing you to buy the plugins to elevate your gaming pleasure :P .

Paradox:
But then again, if they'd included everything, the fan community would have their work cut out wouldn't it? And we might witness an angry backlash by the modders? :P

Well i am goin to donate to the subsim anyway, i think its far ;)

How much is that in english? :) Just dont tell me 19.90 is only $20!!! Over here expansions are between $60 to $99 depending on the developer

Subwolf 11-22-06 08:22 PM

20 Euros is about $27.

Steve,

Pacific Aces case is somewhat different. The decision to distribute it only in exchange for donation to Subsim was easy because the entire add-on was developed by the Pacific Aces team itself with exception of the AI Bai file for planes which could be even later replaced with the better one developed in the team. In turn, GW is rather a compilation of mods by different people. One would need to get permission from all of them to be able to do things similar to what was done with the Pacific Aces distribution.

Nothing!
I had to pay good money for an unfinished product in the first place because the SH3 Development team wasn't allowed to put a finished product on the market.
This was followed by numerous free add-ons and mods to make the product more enjoyable and closer to what the original product SHOULD have been in the first place.
And now, this poll gives me a feeling that greed is taking over somewhat, and seeing how well previous FREE mods of GW have done, someone is testing the waters and this new GWX might be made available IF people are willing to pay for it.

:lurk:

:rotfl:Dont get too paranoid there. GWX could never be sold, since it is illegal to sell mods.

I think the point of the thread is to point out that these free mods are so good that people would have paid to get them. They are of course free, which is even better.

I would willingly sell my house and children, but not the car.:88)

Well I guess it could be sold if all the modders involved agreed to do so ;)
(now let's see how much stabiz can handle before he takes off)

But they don't think profit, and the community is forever greatful

Right on! Please guys: dont let this be another "illegal/ X1" thread. I've been down that road one to many times.... :nope: (And i will not take part in any discussion about that either..)
