In the hope of fostering peace, having his sentence commuted to life in prison with no parole is far worse punishment you know as I do...and would give no fuel to the martyr fire....Honestly I look to see this happen.I think the lack of limelight would drive him insane probably.

Sorry Iceman but I don't see that he has enough supporters among the populace to be a credible martyr.
And from the iraqi point of view having Saddam in prisons with the posibility of breakout during a civil war situation is much worse than killing him off quick (after due vudicial process or coarse ;) ). If he got back into any type of power there would be hell to pay for ordinary iraqi's.

And being killed like a common criminal is humiliating enough for Saddam.

I say dip him in honey and find some Texas fire ants to do the job! ...or better, make him listen to algore speeches until he dies of boredom:dead: . Plus there's less of a mess to clean up:dead: .

Well when the Serb leader of Yugoslavia started his private war in the early 90's who went to this countries aid? Who helped the Croatians, Muslims, be murdered by the Serbs? Never saw USA running to help or the Poms nor any other country including ours, alot sent peace keepers while they stood by and watch serbs take out their ethnic cleanseing. I wouldnt have said putin to be honest he doesnt realy want anything to do with Iraq or its problems, but he does like afghanistan alot.

If this was a war for oil, the US must have plain forgotten to seize it. The Iraqis own and control their oil wells.
