What type of settings are you using to get 30-50 fps...I got a 512 Mem, Radeon 1600 and am only seeing 21 fps.

Gents, I was given the opportunity to look at the progress of this mod. Fear not on the FPS. I did not experience a loss of FPS. I run an X1300 512mb card. Be sure for what is about to be presented to you will change the face of SH4.....it is that good.

Actually it seems to drop 10-20% FPS on REALLY low end systems. I might not have eliminated all factors but in my experience, if you can bearly run SH IV, adding LBO will slow things down .

Thanks wovik for noticing.

I downloaded several "Scene.dat" files, can I just overwrite the original one from the mod, or does the new data need to be 'added in'? Also, which scene.dat file do I need to use, there are several ... I am just confused

just wanted to let you know that what they are talking about in the last few posts is not specificly about Living Breathing Ocean it is the new mod soon comming out called Reflections on the Water.

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=121292

So far most people using LBO have been fine even with the lower end PC's in FPS rate's so you should be good to go.

Toastman 09-12-07 01:59 PM

Hi Chopped50 , my settings in-game are : 1280x1024 @75HZ , NO Antialiasing needed.
Ship damage = 50 %
Character detail = 100 %
Particle Dense = 50%
other settings on this page =50% also

everything enabled EXCEPT for 3d ship wakes ,detailed wave ripples , Volumetric fog ,
and V sync and windowed mode.

Although I have a system based on a Dell Dim 8300 , it now has a stronger PSU ,2 GB of ram , Audigy 2 sound , the elderly 3 ghz cpu and the Gainward Golden Sample
7800GS 512mb seem to cope with everything I throw at it , even BIOSHOCK at 1024x768 with high settings.

I hope this helps.

here are screen shots of just 2 of the sea foam

textures we are trying to choose between just so you can see what is going on

I think the second picture (ie one on the right) looks better, looks more in scale. The foam in the first pic is a little too big, makes the boat look like a 1/350 scale model in soap suds.

I second that. The second picture looks really really nice :yep:

Canonicus 09-12-07 06:41 PM

Yes! :yep: ...thats the one to use, Leo...Looks very nice, way more realistic... and more in scale as mrbeast points out.

AVGWarhawk 09-12-07 08:12 PM

Good things coming gents. This puppy is about to turn the corner to completion. The seafoam and shadows of the sub on the water are excellent. I have made a suggestion to Leo concerning FPS issues. I believe it will help those that are concerned about it.

Toastman 09-13-07 01:31 PM

Hi Leovampire , the second pictures textures are way better than the first , more in-scale !!

leovampire 09-13-07 07:49 PM

Thanks for the comments guys and in helping to decied

So now we are enhancing the second foam effect to look it's best in game seeing we needed to know the right texture before the finish work on it as there are layers of it that need enhancing to work in all game mode's of effect's.

ReallyDedPoet 09-13-07 07:52 PM

Looks good LV, the new pics, much more fluent looking :yep:

What is cool about this mod is the fact that the seafoam is generated as the wind blows over the water just like RL. So the seafoam forms and disipates as the wind diminishes over the small sections it is occuring. Quite an astonishing effect really.

DirtyHarry3033 09-13-07 09:54 PM

That is great news AVG, I was wondering if the foam would just "lie there" or if it would be influenced by the wind. Sounding better and better, and it is a major effort believe me, to force myself to patiently await the [REL] ;)

I am fairly new to subsim forums, I love all the mods that you all are doing. I wish more products like this were put out. I remember FIGHTING STEEL! Wonderful job on LBO, is there a WIP for the foam, or when will it be ready?

I hear ya Harry. Yes, the seafoam is alive and appears and moves around then fades as the wind diminishes. Quite real in effect if you have seen this phenomenon in RL. You will be happy with it. No doubt in my mind that all will enjoy this effect in high seas.

You should be able to jsgme this mod:up:

Im still a bit confused by the instructions on page one. SO if I download the jsgme version, do I still have to futz with making a new scene folder, changing all those parameters and such? Or is the JGSME file exactly that... a one shot install? Oh...and I am just running a Vanilla SH4...no mods except for Capt Midnights CBS News radio mod

Oh..,. and this looks GREAT. Again its amazing what the modders do FOR FREE that UBI could have paid the devs a little bit more ...and had this Sim ROCK the subsim world!

EAGLE_01 09-16-07 11:39 AM

Ok, so have I done something wrong, or am I the only one who sees an immersion killing jelly effect when on the bridge looking forward? It's annoying and has really made me stop runnung SH4; havent played in over a month now.
Great work by LV, and from ALL other angles looks fantastic, but looking forward is like jell-O. Anyone know why?:hmm:
