Don't worry, we'll find you a place. Let me do some checking this afternoon.

Did you have reservations at Hampton? Did they contact you?

TarJak 09-29-08 08:00 AM

Yeah we did have a reservation and no they didn't call. I've called them and they are closed until Dec 1 so no way we can stay there. They mentioned either the La Quinta or the Marriott in Pearland but calling both of them turned out to be fruitless as they are both fully booked for that week.

I've booked us a room at the Marriott near the Houston Medical Centre (about 10 miles north of Pearland according to their reservations office). This was the closest we could get to Pearland.

If anyone finds something available nearer, then let us know!

Neal I've sent you an e-mail with the details.

Ok I will be staying at the Hilton Garden Inn in downtown Houston. Which is 24 miles from the Pearland address.

I kind of piggybacked a mini vacation onto our little get together since I am driving down from LI NY.

I own a VW GLI so I can maybe take 2 small people or maybe 1 larger person from my hotels area to the events.

Anyways I will see you there Kaluens... :arrgh!:

Ok, thanks for the e-mail. I see your Marriot is in the area, no problem there.

In the same area is Howard Johnson Express Inn - Houston Astrodome / Medical Center, $79 a night.

Rick StdDev just informed me he booked a room at the Scottish Inn on Telephone road. I called and they have three rooms with a pair of quee-sized beds each, so if anyone is looking for a place, this would be $50 a person, two people to a room. :yep:

Anyone coming needs to reserve his room now, and feel free to use this thread to buddy up and split the costs.

Just called my hotel.

"Oh, we canceled your reservation September 22."

:nope:

"Really? When were you going to let me know? Cause I have a reservation conformation dated September 23 saying that my room is good."

Now I'm staying across town in Brookhollow. :damn:

*******s.

Many thanks for your efforts Neal

Funnily enough, the Scottish Inn was my secondary choice, but TJ being a wealthy Aussie and all that

Yes, please do. I will shuttle you to your hotel. If you decide to rent a car, let me know but you do not need to if you prefer not to. I'm at your service.

Pioneer, let me know if you need any assistance with lodging, please.

Geez, Jimbuna! I don't mean to sound choosey but I've already spent three nights in Houston on a Whambulance! (Okay okayyy... I got to sleep on the floor in the command center one night.) Still, I don't think my back will ever be the same!

Besides, its creepy sleeping on the truck cot. Too many ghosties sitting on you!:o

We DID however, have that thing loaded down like a good and proper U-boat. We had to move the toilet paper and Oreos to get at the IV supplies and spare monitor batteries.

@Privateer, if you are leaving on the 17th... you're gonna miss everyone by about ten days matey. ;) I recommend being in Houston between the 8th and 12th for best results. :arrgh!:
