Hi Guys
My monitor resolution is 1920 x 1080 60HZ
My in game graphics is set to 1920 x1080 60 HZ
When I add the 3000 yard bearing mod 1920x which looks like the logical mod my game crashes in the Submarine School and in the game.
I am having to get around this by using the 3000 yard bearing 1024x mod which means I am looking at 1500 yards and not 3000.

These are my mods.

410 Rockin Robbins EZ Plot V2.0
Bigger Better Protractors
3000 Yard Bearing Tool (1024x)

Any ideas why this should be happening?
Peter

Started a new campaign in Midway on June 6th 1942 and the first mission was insert an agent in Guam, bloody hell not again.

So the assignment said Insert Spy Marianna Islands, right? There's only two of those particular missions, which go from the beginning until way late. I split the time for those two between the two ends, so like 18 months for each one.

In line with that, what boat did you pick out of Pearl? If you do the Narwhal, you are going to get about half of your missions (maybe more, can't remember) as SpecOps, since you've got all that space in that boat. You could even end up doing missions around Attu in the Aleutians... I think it's the 2nd Flotilla?? I'd have to go look at my notes upstairs. Anyway, hopefully we'll have a "fix" in the version after what RR is working on now.

I've run into a problem with my campaign's compatibility. It tells me that SCSubchaser (which I used quite bit) and MSN013 are invalid which seems to mean they aren't a part of the group in SEA Folder anymore. I should be able to work around it by just changing those entries where I find them. Off the top of my head though, I can't figure out/remember what MSN013 is. Maybe a Minesweeper (I did use those when I wrote the campaign). If anyone knows off the top of their head, let me know please. Anyway, I have some work to do and it could be worse.

Looked through the campaign a little closer today and confirmed that LOTS of the escort crews have Novice rating. As I recall, Elites use max range of sensor capabilities, Veterans use like 80%, Competent 60% and so on down. If I'm wrong about this, please let me know.

Last question: what are you setting thermal layers at? That's pretty important to know to be able to do sonar testing.

:salute:

In the Support folder in the mod is an XL spreadsheet that s7rikeback made up of all the ships and planes in the FotRSU mod (Ships & Planes for FotRS Ultimate©.xlsx), and their Type= calls. If you don't have MS Office, Libre Office should be able to open it, or anything with the ODS (??) file type. All you have to do is match those calls in your MIS files to what they are in the spreadsheet. You might have to change a Class= line or two also, but that's all the problem is that you've got. Some of the older Japanese DD were "downgraded" by the IJN and called second line vessels, such as the Minekaze and Momi, so they are basically lumped in with the DE as Type=3. The vessels that you mention are in there, just changed their number is all... There are quite a few changes in some of the areas of the warships. Not so much in the Merchants, but there are a few... Be careful with a Search and Replace though, 'cause if you're like me, you'll one teeny tiny little mistake, and blow away a days work in one fell swoop... :o

Peter, you were using my 3000 yard bearing tool (1920x) and it caused the CTD's right?

I think I saw where you mentioned this before. And didn't someone ask if you've used the Large Address Aware with your computer?

I can tell you my 3000 yard bearing tool is huge.....I mean HUGE!! It's measured in feet, not inches (I forget, its like 9 feet square). It had to be this large to measure the correct distance......1200 yards out from the sub measures 1200 yards on the Bearing Tool. This image pulls a lot of memory to render. With other 3D models being rendered (especially in FOTRS Ultimate) there's a lot going on, requiring a fast computer, and a good working graphics card. Both would be beneficial if they had extra memory to keep up with what we're asking them to do.

That's why IF your computer has 4 gigs of memory (or more) LAA is a must have. AND, if you are using LAA.....is it doing what you think it's doing? Actually giving your game a boost in memory power? The first thing to check is in LAA, under its "Advanced" mode. IF LAA is set up correctly, you should find the correct path to your Silent Hunter main game folder and its "sh4.exe" file....which is where LAA tells this old game to "use more memory" than the default 2 gigs maximum.

This is what your opened LAA in "Advanced" mode page should look like:

http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w...ps1046534b.jpg

You should have the correct path to your game folder (mine is on the D: drive)......leading directly to the sh4.exe file. With the LAA column on the right reading "True", meaning LAA is correctly set up and working. If it doesn't read "True", LAA has an issue, your game is not benefiting from it.

So, what do you say?

Rockin Robbins 03-05-17 08:30 AM

Okay, because I don't have time to do it right but I have plenty of time to do it over, here's the recipe for Fall of the Rising Sun Ultimate v0.55:

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/wy...A=w876-h708-no

See how tricky I am, numbering all the add-ins so I don't mess up the order? Remember that for when we do plug-in mods because they will be numbered in a similar sense, except that some of them will have the same number. When they have the same number, that will mean that the like-numbered mods are not compatible. You must choose only one of them. Then install with JSGME in numerical order and there will be no conflicts.

Okay, let the cauldron run commence!

Attention!

FOTRSU v0.55 is now uploading in area 51. I don't have time to test it right now, so team members: have at it! There are still a lot of -remove files in there but of course the game won't use them and they're harmless. We'll eliminate them next time.

Enjoy!

Where's Area 51? ; p

Is overwriting sufficient or does it need to be an uninstall / reinstall?

Rockin Robbins 03-05-17 12:55 PM

You will have to uninstall the previous version and then install this one. You should have JSGME verify that your stock files are perfect before installing v0.55. Team members are testing the new version for 24 hours before I upload it to the Subsim download area.

In this version the Aleutians S-boat campaign takes on real substance. The Scurvy fixes are amazing. And when you center the rudder the voice still says "Rudder amidships!" That alone should make FOTRSU the default mod of Silent Hunter 4.
