If your gonna go, go with your boots on, in your case with your Uberboots on:rock::rock:
|
These two pesky destroyers kept circling above, taking their turns dropping charges, minimal damage was repaired quite fast! Couldn't believe my luck, was still in one piece, but pretty helpless to react! I can change depth (albiet verrrry slowly) but that is it!
Got a chance to get some great photo's of my two surface friends, they passed by me quite close a number of times! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v138/Thony/s2-1.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v138/Thony/s1-1.jpg |
Nice Eddie, I just built a new computer, SH3 and 4 run like silk now, going to give Uber another go as a result:yep:
|
I began to study the bearings coming in on these two vultures, and noticed a pattern developing. mind you, the crew was not happy as I took quite sometime to do this! Finally, it seemed to me, that they were equal distances apart, while one was off my bow, the other was off my stern, and they were running what I thought was a figure 8 pattern, but not sure on that. After they made their last run, I waited to see if they changed what they were doing, but they hadn't. Now, I thought, the Hunters are becoming the hunted!:arrgh!:
When one was straight in front of me, I raised my scope! Not moivng, I hoped it would take them longer to see it. And the plan worked! I lined up the first boat in the crosshairs, and fired!! Wasn't long, and the explosion could be heard through my boat, and a cheer (for the first time from my crew) resounded just as loudly!! We were fighting back! I watched my prey, and even after hitting him near his bow, he kept coming for me, and I started to sweat a bit more!! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v138/Thony/s3-1.jpg As he came closer and closer, I couldn't help but watch in horror, as I thought he had enough speed built up to come down on top of us! (Remember, I'm dead in the water!) He kept coming and coming, but his bow was getting lower in the water by the second! Finally, he plunged beneath the waves, a lot closer then I wanted him to be!!! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v138/Thony/s4-1.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v138/Thony/s5-1.jpg |
Now it was time to turn my attention to my other nemisis, who was off my stern. I follwed the same procedure, locked on to him, and fired a fish from my stern tubes, and moments later, a second explosion was felt, he went down quickly!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v138/Thony/s7-1.jpg With those two finally gone, and nothing in the area but debris, I debated about surfacing the boat. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v138/Thony/s6-1.jpg As I was about to give the order, my sonar man reported contacts bearing 333, and closing at a steady speed. Surfacing would have to wait, as it seems I have more company on the way! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v138/Thony/s10.jpg Hope a German tanker is on the way, because I'm not sure what I'm going to do once I run out of fish!!! |
Whooooooooeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
Eddie (S) thats Great nice story Grand adventure absolutely great screens if nothing else recommend sending distress signal to BDU and see if anything can be done for your men is it possible the approaching ships are the convoy those dd's were attached to.? and nice to have you back aboard. MM |
Thanks reallydedpoet and Martin, having a great adventure with this boat! And reallydedpoet, hope everything works out with the upgraded PC, wish I could do the same, but tight funds prevent that at this time.
I had saved this mission, and when I restarted it, I noticed the damage on my boat was gone? Not the internal damage, that still registered (Rats!) but the graphic damage on the hull vanished for some reason. Too bad they didn't refill my fuel tanks while they were at it!;) But, the contact report I had just received, turned out to be a destroyer escort. Guess he's in the lead of this group, they are still coming, but trail behind. Even though this is all that shows above the surface, he picked up on it and started firing! Lowered the scope, made sure everything was ready for an attack, and began the process again. How he could see this from such a distance is beyond me!?! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v138/Thony/c2.jpg And as you can see, I'm not moving, just a sitting duck! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v138/Thony/c1.jpg But, as has been said, going to go down with my Uberboots on! Lined him up, fired, and he was finished! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v138/Thony/c3.jpg Not really sure what to do at this point, no fuel, 3 torps left, a convoy or whatever just over the horizon, approaching at a steady speed, leaves me with little room to decide! Such is life when in command!!:hmm: |
advise the following steps
hold last two torps for military targets suggest surface enough to radio in contact report and hope for some local air support (i forgot your location) hit normal dive again and go as low as hull integrity will allow let convoy pass after they are gone surface if not all fuel is gone then try home at slow ahead 1 diesel uses half the fuel of two or if no fuel hit exit. (cant hurt to try) |
Eddie you using ocean blues dmagae final mate?
|
it sure does sound like it. I havent pulled visible damage through
a save or noticed if i didnt. so I have no advice on that one. Underwater Auto evasive maneuvers dont seem to have near as much potential as surface ones it is near impossible to let go of the wheel when youve got four Rivers Hounding and Pounding you with ESP and Hedgehogs. you just cant make the break with out having the conn yourself. |
I don't have the Torpedo Damage Final activated at the moment, hits on a sub look like very large chunks of the hull have been blown away when hit by gunfire using that mod! Not sure if there is a different damge mod to use, will check around. I am using Fubars Weathered IX skin, so got to thinking that when you load up a saved mission, that SH3 is loading that first maybe, overwriting the prior damage?
Martin, will give your idea a try, thanks for the help! But, I have kind of been worried about sending a message at this point, uncertain if that will give my position away, to the Allies? Have not been able to get a good look at whats heading my way, still too far out. Have received a radio message stating that the "Brake" is assumed lost at sea, and to refuel we should head for a different area. Can't remember at the moment what it was, until I reload the mission. Hope I can limp in on one engine, if I have the fuel that is! BTW Martin, loved the message about rowing!:D |

I'm not sure how much if any of what you say about me is true  Thanks anyways my fellow kaleun  :arrgh!: |
Good to see ya jim and did ya remmber the beer. Also eddie trt ocean blues latest version its very accurate as about as close as the sh4 model for damage as your going to get. Also guys whem your reporting any probs can you let me know in detail what happened so i can replicate the problem also screenies always help me in tryign to make it happen again.
|
OK leeclose, will do!!
|
I keep telling Damage Mod people,
You CAN assign different textures to different ships and tweak the damage values in the val files. But no one seems to want to go there. :nope: |
Well Martin, the mission is over, finally! Restarted where I left off, again debating about surfacing. When Sonar reported a warship contact closing at medium speed. Identified it as a DE, sent my last stern torp on its way, struck it astern, and sent it to the bottom. Nothing else in the area, so surfaced, come what may. Deck repairs completed in short order, Watchcrew ordered to posts. Last contact showed task force SW of our position (in Southern Indian Ocean) heading in a WSW direction, medium speed. Plotted course for straight north, out of area. Set speed for 4 Kts, and got underway! Cheers heard all over boat, as we slowly moved away. Tally for this mission, 3 DD and 2 DE, 7900+ tons. Not bad for a disabled boat,LOL But glad to head for friendly waters, going to take a while, but great to be underway again! Hope the fuel onboard will get us to a friendly port.
Even though this is the 1.3.1a beta, its fun to take to sea. Good job by everyone so far, its a nice change from the stock boats. |
Congratulations eddie well done:up:
thats some uberpunishment you survived. eat em n smile:rock: |
Eddie if the worst comes to the worst mate break out the paddles:rotfl:

previous post I sent a BDU pm recommending his cheif engineer fashion oars out of the mess tables if all else failed. |
From: U-115
To: BdU Boat isn´t ready for service. The harbour master (my damn f.....ing PC) will not allow me to set sail. All men feel blue screened since GWX 1.03. I think they´ve hidden their easter eggs too early this year...:nope: |
