USA still has a huge chance of advancing even with a loss. That 4 goal pounding the Germans got on Portugual is mucking up the works.

Quote:

If the U.S. wins: The Americans are through to the next round as the winners of Group G and will play the second place team from Group H. (Belgium currently leads Group H, followed by Algeria, Russia and South Korea)
Germany would finish second unless Ghana or Portugal won and passed Germany on goal differential. Germany currently is plus 4, Ghana is minus 1 and Portugal is minus 4. The second place finisher plays the winner of Group H.
If Germany wins: Germany wins the group.
The U.S. would finish second unless Ghana or Portugal won and passed the U.S. on goal differential. The U.S. is plus 1, Ghana is minus 1 and Portugal is minus 4. So, if the U.S. loses to Germany, it will be rooting for Portugal, because it's less likely that Portugal could pass the U.S. on goal differential.
If Germany and the U.S. draw: Germany wins the group and the U.S. finishes second. The result of the other game is meaningless.
If Ghana and Portugal draw: The U.S. and Germany advance. Germany wins the group unless the U.S. defeats them

It is a pretty optimistic outlook, considering we should not have even made it this far.

I am still a huge Tim Howard fan, he is a fine goaltender, and the best man for the job.:yeah:

I see a loss to Germany, but it won't be an easy win for them, we are scrappers.

Australia and Spain are both homeward bound as normal services are resumed. No surprises at the scoreline this morning with the real Spain turning up.

Maybe you could read and understand what I wrote about team A and team F

Here's a piece from wiki

"Faeroe Islands pulled one of the biggest upsets in footballing history when they beat Austria 1–0 in their first ever competitive international on 12 September 1990. The game, a Euro 92 qualifier, was played in Landskrona, Sweden because there were no grass pitches on the Islands"

So I was witness to history being written

The Mexican coach is hilarious, I want him to coach our team.

Klinsmann is such a bore.:D

First goal, he jumped up and down, and danced around, rather than the stern serious crap the other coaches do. Second goal which came less than a minute later, he kinda tackled and layed on top of one of his players. (in a brotherly way, that sounds kinda "mysterious")

I love that passion!:yep:

Edit: Mexico strikes again as I correct typos, 3-0...

Great 1/8 finals following those two Groups:
Brasil: Chile and
Netherlands: Mexico.

For the Germans pov it would mean, if both the US and Germany qualify,

USA:Russia and Germany : Belgium, if ...

There is still one game to play to qualify.

Brasil still has not convinced me so far, Cameron was probably the worst team in the tournament. Holland is great.

Tommorow: Italy : Uruguay. That will be intersting to see if Italy is going to make it.

If Germany wins group they would play runner up of Group H, which could well be Algeria or Russia, since they play each other on the 27th.
If Germany comes second they would play Belgium, Belgium is leading the group on 6 points currently, and they play South Korea on the 27th, you can't see them losing that.
I also can't see Germany not topping group G, which means either Russia or Algeria in the last 16 knock-out stage.

Agree. Brasil vs Chile (confirmed now) in knock-out last 16 game on 29th will be interesting.

On the Netherlands v Chile game, i'm amazed at the stat of ball possession at final whistle:
a staggering 64% to 36% to Chile. Yet they still managed to win.
Normally it's all about ball possession, and of course what you do when you have the ball is important as well.

I'm going for Uruguay to beat Italy.
Big call, but i think Uruguay is on a roll at the moment.
If Uruguay wins of course, good bye Italy.

Forgot to add:

Spain has given Australia a serving in their aftermath:

The game was regarded as an unworthy procedure for a (Spanish) team with so much history

England can still progress in the World Cup, It's possible. All we have to do is beat Costa Rica 3-0. That will guarantee us a better goal difference than the loser of the Italy - Uruguay game. We finish 3rd in the group.

Then.... we get some of the Black guys in the team to break in the Lab and spike the drug test results of the 7 Costa Ricans tested after the last match. The scousers kidnap Sepp Blatter's grandchildren and under duress, he announces that the Costa Ricans have to go home immediately in disgrace. We go through by default!.

Far - fetched?. Yeah, I suppose 3-0 is a bit of a tall order.

Germany v USA will be crucial to the survival hopes of a lacklustre Portugal but Ghana may well beat them which will render the German v USA result meaningless.

STEED 06-24-14 09:09 AM

I'm too busy tonight to watch England that bunch of nappy wearing bed wetters.:arrgh!:

As a German I maybe should feel relieved that our nemesis is gone, but still: condolence to Italy, their team got betrayed by an incompetent dilettante who tried to compensate his lacking ability with too much pomade in his hair. A red card given that was none, but not giving a red card that should have been given: blind idiot. Urugay-Italy 1:0 I therefore score differently:

Referee-Italy 2:0

P.S. Where do the corrupt retards of FIFA find all these many bad wannabe-referees when they want to hold a big tournament? Is there a trophy to be won for the worst referee performance of a tournament that I have not heard of?
