I 've just a question about it (I don't seen it above) : the colored chronometer don't seem to me very immersive :-? . Is it possible to change it ?

Thanks :)

You sure that they might not have had this type of chronometer in real life? OLC reckonned all the instruments reflect the real life ones more accurately...
Either way, I'm keeping mine, I love the speed marks for easy speed calcs, mostly I don't bother with the longer method.

I don't know what type of chronometer was in the u-Boat. You're right, but I don't like this one :-? It's stupid maybe.

Thank you, Friedl9te, for the link, but I don't understand German  . Is there a direct link to download this or can you explain in english how modify this?

Yes they had this kinda watch but not on Subs but on destroyers to hunt subs.

Was it only the allies who had this type of chronometer? If so you could say you had got hold of one by various means.

I was thinking of making the weapons officer's icon change to a small working chronometer when active (representing the WO keeping time on the torpedo run) so it would be visuable in any compartment, which is missed in OLC's GUI. The icon would still function as a shortcut.

So sort out which chronometer you want.

Another thing thats missng for me is the compass thingy of the direction of your own boat... you know, the one that appears around your boat when you zoom in on the nav map.

Why did OLC disable this? :(

The Bad Wolf 12-17-07 07:11 AM

Yes. You've got to do more plotting, but I can put up with that, but I'll have a look at it later, if I remember.

LATEST MOD UPDATE.

Now the 1st problem is solved have started moving dials to new positions. The TDC will be the top block instead of the bottom one. Puts it next to the auto-update switch and indicator

The torpedo salvo etc dials will be in original place and interchange with the Chronometer (new one at moment).

The top block strip wil be expanded and consist of (from left to right).

Fire button / the 6 tubes / Lock button / Periscope up/down / Auto-update light (clear/red/green) / auto-update switch.

The auto-update indicater shows Clear when you have No-Lock.

Next problem will be with attack disk (in map view only). I want to put it there as there is no need to have it as back-up in the sim, so it will be used for long range attack plotting.

Hi Friedl9te,

You've convinced me about the chronometer. As I believe the sim should be realistic as possible, the old one's back in . Will have to convert Speed1knt_2kmph to a tga for ingame use.

Friedl9te 12-17-07 08:31 AM

I prefer pisces method of calculating the speed with the fixed wire method by the use of the circular slideruler.
This method requires no conversion table.

Concerning the conversion tables and their accuracy look here.

I try this mod. But I've a problem : I can't use the TDC manually. The mouse cursor is not active in the TDC window :-? and it's impossible to enter any data. The switch only close the TDC windows. But that's all.

Sorry if this problem was posted yet here. But with my english it is difficult to read all the post and see it  .

I've set the options like in the video.

Do you know this problerm ?

Thank for your help :)

Have you set Manual-Targeting or Auto-targeting in Realism options? The whole point of this mod is to do it manually.

lumat83 12-17-07 04:41 PM

Manual Targeting. But I found the problem. In my settings, I play with french keyboard. In english all is right :))

Thanks you guys :)

Hi Friedl9te!

I tried two of the bearing overlay programs (Jases and Patos1500m), they dont work for me unfortunately.... no change after installing them. :(

Btw Is there a way of uninstalling them, I was surpirsed to see they came with an installer, and I was even more surprised when I noticed they come without and uninstaller.
How do I get rid of them, now that they are not working I want to prevent them from causing any potential problems with my GWX career down the track.

cheers!

Good that you got it working, but I don't get it. How does a change in keyboard layout make a mouse cursor work??
