Friday guy's no matter what there will be an Alpha release

of most of the work but not all of it! Then once the rest of it is done and bug's worked out it will be added for another download.

So the sea foam work, Kriller2's work and my work with the reflections will be ready for download on Friday.

The lightning work, smoke work, fire work, oil slik work and extra lighting and reflection work will come at a lator date unless it is ready by then as they all work with the same files.

You will only be getting about 2/3 rd's of the mod but at least you will have some of it in your hands in the mean time.

Sorry you were kept waiting so long but it isn't fair anymore to keep it all held back just for some minor problems.

Basicly all you will be getting is most of the environment work and reflection work and the extra bell's and wistles will be lator on.

Question:

Has this Mod corrected the fact that as you pan right or left, objects like smoke, reflections and searchlights disappear at the edge of the screen? Has anybody else noticed this or is it just my GFX Card messing with me?

rcjonessnp175 09-18-07 03:51 AM

General, now that u mention it, i experience the same thing.

I’ve seen this visual effect go from one extreme to another, yet where is the conclusion or is it a hobby?

Is it one more tweak because I can or is it one more difference because it looks better.

I think it’s a compassion for what can only be a perfection of what the community and all simulation enthusiast can only dream of come true.

Great job on the graphics mod team!

Good point.
Belive me I have tried to get the colours to look like the picture you are posting but I had to make some compromises due to how the sh4-engine handles colours/reflection, because if I make the sunsets red like your picture it looks crazy! like a shot from Mars or something when the SH4-engine is rendering and there is a green line (very noticeable) in the horizont which spoils the emmersion completely.. I think it's because of the SH4 engine is making a blend between the horizont and the ocean...

But hopefully the sunset will look abit like this ;)

BTW the effect looks much better when there is clouds on the sky! (pictures will be posted later)

it's pretty easy to "fix" this, however removing this can affect performance and i wouldn't recommend it. Look for "NoActionMatureOutOfFrustum" inside the particles.dat and switch it from true to false and the particles should stay even when you're not looking at the emitter.

We all have heard 'smoke on the water' now there is oil on the water! There is no FPS hit at all with this mod. The new water/debrie explosion is just fantastic. Sorry no screenshot as my jaw was on my keyboard when the torp hit;) . There was no FPS hit with the new explosion/fire. Currenlty with my whimpy computer I only experience FPS hits at port and this was the case before the new textures were introduced. A few things however, I do not use the fog or sunglare function in the game. These two do kill my FPS. These boxes are left unchecked. I do check all the other boxes. Sliders are half or full.

Rig:
AMD 3200+
2 gig DDR400 ram
X1300 XGE 512mb card

I'm not a FPS junkie and my rig's average FPS is 25. This is playable for me.

Such oil slick should be perfect for tanker but may be not a good fit for a liner.

I just can't believe the results so far, they are amazing.

If you hit any vessel around the engine room oil will appear. This according to Leovampire. This particular shot I hit just aft of the stack. Besides, any vessel that was not a coal burner carries fuel oil to run the engines so a slick will appear. Size of the slick is subjective for each vessel.

I don't care if you've got oil slicks coming out of sail boats! I'm just happy to see 'em, especially on fire, that's awesome!

Keep on rockin' in the free World!

Thanks |3th4|, by-the-way!

Seadogs 09-18-07 08:08 AM

Yep yep, ships use fuel oil and lots of it. You would be suprised.

I think the real discrepency would be having a large enough slick for tankers.

No further questions your honor, I rest my case:up:

sergbuto 09-18-07 08:20 AM

I am not sure that FUEL oil would give such a black (ink-like) slick but maybe. It is all a matter of taste, anyway.

Me too, must be a narrowed cone of view for rendering
