Hello Captains,
Boy, I need a note to give to my bosses at work. My job is interfering with this vital testing of 100_FalloftheRisingSun_Ulimate_v0.52_PublicBeta_EN ! :har:

I ran into this yesterday on a mission to Marshall Islands to sink enemy shipping. Got passed the submarine net, which didn't see any mines. ID a ship that was a whaling ship that was stationary. Four torpedoes made a nice reef for the fish! But wait, checked the scope, whaling ship was still afloat, so what did we sink? Checked Captain Log and the ship sunk was Large Old Tanker. The screenshots are location and pictures of the ships after reloading the mission.

I have since downloaded version 0.53 and all my saves from version 0.52 are gone.

Happy Hunting!

Good morning JO313,

Having just used SH4CMS I can offer you my assistance on this matter:

1 - Install SH4 from your normal install media
I used C:/Games/Silent Hunter 4 Editions/Wolves of the Pacific <--- You need to rename the folder as thus for SH4CMS to work.

2 - update with UBM update into the same directory.

3 - I then unzipped SH4CMS and then added the folder "SH4CorruptionManagementSystem" to C:/Games/Silent Hunter 4 Editions/SH4CorruptionManagementSystem

As an example, my directory structure would look like this:

C:/Games/Silent Hunter 4 Editions/Wolves of the Pacific
C:/Games/Silent Hunter 4 Editions/SH4CorruptionManagementSystem

4 - With Windows explorer, navigate to your SH4CorruptionManagementSystem directory, which for me was
C:/Games/Silent Hunter 4 Editions/SH4CorruptionManagementSystem and double-click StartSH4CMS.

5 - You should see this menu:

Silent Hunter 4 Corruption Management System

Choices: 1. Webster's Mod Soup Fix
2. Make SH4Pristeen protected game file repository (takes 5.5 GB)
3. Make or fix SH4GFO game installation
4. Make or fix SH4RFB game installation
5. Make or fix SH4TMO game installation
6. Make or fix SH4ROTRS game installation
7. Make or fix SH4FOTRSU game installation

8. Quit

Choose the choice of your choice (1-8): Select option 2

6 - SH4CMS automatically produces a directory named \SH4 Pristeen.
It copies all the files that are in \Wolves of the Pacific, places the copies into \SH4 Pristeen. Then it installs JSGME.exe, JSGME.ini, Large Address Aware.exe and MultiSH4.exe into the pristeen directory.

Lastly, it write protects all the files and directories in SH4 Pristeen. That means that it is impossible to play the files there and they are protected against further modifications.

As an example, my directory structure would look like this:

C:/Games/Silent Hunter 4 Editions/Wolves of the Pacific
C:/Games/Silent Hunter 4 Editions/SH4CorruptionManagementSystem

C:/Games/Silent Hunter 4 Editions/SH4 Pristeen

Next, you'll want to make independent installations for any supermods you might want to play. Type the selection, 3 through 7 and it will make a game installation directory for that supermod.

As an example, my directory structure would look like this:

C:/Games/Silent Hunter 4 Editions/Wolves of the Pacific
C:/Games/Silent Hunter 4 Editions/SH4CorruptionManagementSystem

C:/Games/Silent Hunter 4 Editions/SH4 Pristeen

C:/Games/Silent Hunter 4 Editions/SH4FOTRSU

These are names only. There's nothing preventing you from making an SH4GFO installation and using TMO + RSRDC + OTC + Ralles Mod Soup in there.

After you've made your game installation, go into the directory to run Large Address Aware to set SH4.exe and JSGME.exe to be aware of memory above 2 GB.

If you desire to have multiple game installations simultaneously, run MultiSH4.exe to make separate save game and settings directories in your \Documents folder. Finally, run JSGME to produce a \MODS
folder, then IMMEDIATELY perform a Tasks.... /generate snapshot of game files. Now you are ready to play SH4.

Hope that makes sense..:hmmm:

Thank you for this very detailed set of instructions and I am going to follow them to the T and see how it go's. I will let you know if it work's.

J0313 02-09-17 07:39 PM

It worked BUTTT.

It is working now but I have another problem. When I run MultiSH4 it tells me that the filemanager .dll can not be written. Any ideas?

I fixed that issue as well now. If anyone else runs into this all they need to do is replace the Filemanager .dll with the one from the original install.

I wish i could take credit for the instructions, but they were all included in the enclosed readme file. :03:

All i added was the directory structures for a slightly clearer idea of what to expect after each step.

Rockin Robbins has done a fantastic job here.. :salute:

As to MultiSH4, i seem to remember that i had to right click on my new SH4FOTRSU folder and select Properties and in the general tab un-check Read-only before I could edit the exe & other files.

Is that two ship-sunk icons on the map? or just one and the center of the circle you drew? The Whale Factory ship (NCVW) has a draft of 7.1 meters (22 feet), while the Large Old Tanker (T07B) has a draft of 9.3 meters, or about 29 feet. I've had this before myself, where one vessel "masks" another. I aim at the visible target, the torps run deep and pass beneath the target, and hit the next vessel, which has a deeper draft. In fact, look at this one, at about the 2:30 to 3:00 mark:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QQAUs0FZAlw

You'll see 2 torps pass beneath the Catapult ship and one impact the bow of the Bismarck in a test mission for Fall of the Rising Sun.

Yes I figured that out as well. Never had to do that before. Also In the instructions it doesn't tell you that you have to rename the SH4 Root file to Wolves of the Pacific exclusively. So you cleared that up for me rather nicely.

Downloaded the latest cauldron
0.54 (but it says 0.53 on the splash screen?)

Giving it a run this weekend

I am sailing out of Brisbane in June of '42 in a Pigboat.
Haven't seen anyone testing a career in Task Force 42 yet so I thought I would give it a go

Will report back if I find any issues

Other news - I am running at 2560 x 1440
That I can run such an old game engine at this resolution is incredible

It looks beautiful, and I can confirm that the UI, dials etc all fall in the right place are are completely useable

Hi i was wondering is there anyway that the mod team can put the three alarm buttons that are on the conning tower bulkhead in the control room as well as the bridge it would be cool to have it on the bridge and control room.

Got my new tower a few weeks back and have spent the time installing loads of games, maxing out all the graphics settings, and sitting here like a slack jawed yokel staring at how awesome everything looks

She is a real beast :03:

Finally got round to reinstalling SH4 and the latest build

0.54 is looking really good

Seems as if you fellas were real busy while I was away

What graphics card you runnin?

CapnScurvy, propbeanie, and s7rikeback have really worked miracles with this mod. They deserve the lion's share of the credit for things.
