If so, there are some slight changes in the layers, and some "assets" have been moved, which could cause a CTD. This is the bother of beta testing, in that you should clear your "Save" folder in My Documents and then start a new career whenever you change versions of the mod. You won't always have that happen, but the odds go up. Let us know either way though, since if you did start a new career, we'd want to try to find what you could encounter leaving Midway in October 1942... Did you plot a direct course there, or do an in-direct route?

i did continue a .52 career with .53 release. i was hoping to just carry on....

So the Alaskan Campaign in v0.53 is the same since back when... We initially intended to completely disable it.

bismarck1011 has those great Aleutian Islands Missions. Maybe it would help to convert those to campaign mode? :06:

The 3000 yard bearing tool 1920 x 1080 mod ctd's with FOTRSU in either previous or the new version.
Is it not compatible in this JSGME setup?

I'm running it with no problems. Keep in mind you have 3 separate Map cfg's in those 3 extra mods you are running.

At a loss.

I am trying to utilize the SH4CMS. I install all my SH games to my D drive which is my Terabyte. I never install SH games to my C drive. I have both a pristine installation of SH4 and SH4CMS in the D drive and it doesn't want to work. Am I not understanding the instructions? They both just have to be in the same drive right?

It's also worth noting that the 1920x version is a pretty big texture (to get around SH4's scaling issues). It's 6064x6064 and like 35mb compressed (~1GB uncompressed). Maybe his graphics card is choking on it.

That said i have no issues with it either.

Capt RAP

What boat were you using, and did you try to keep the same career as what you had in v0.52?

We are working on that, but as Single Missions, and if we can get 'em going OK, we'll be contacting Bismarck1011... We might also try to get some of cdrsubron7's older missions ported over, but we have had some issues with those. We are also going to try to port some of the German Single Missions over for that side... maybe...

Well, the easy answer would be....Yes, its hard coded. But, I can't say for sure since I've never looked into it. I can say that I've never run into any parameters for the Red Lighting effect.....so, I'm guessing its hard coded.:D

=================

For those that are finding issues with using FOTRS Ultimate v0.53...... make sure you do a couple of things:

1. Clear your Documents/SH4 folder. Don't worry, the game will make a new "SH4" folder the next time you start the game. Yes, you'll need to reset your game resolution, exit the game, restart the game to have the resolution "take", but that's a small price to pay for stability. It also clears out your past saved games, which is a good thing when running a new mod through the game....which v0.53 is!

2. Don't run other mods with FOTRS Ultimate. Least not until we get the bugs out. Believe me, you're all helping in producing this mod with your posts and observations. We appreciate it!!

================

I noticed mark bonamer wanted to know how I made the keyboard layout (Q-Ref cards) that Ultimate uses. I used Photoshop to remake the layout images. By all means, print out those two image files to keep handy on your desktop (I made them fit a standard piece of paper). Putting them on "hard stock" paper (you can find it at your computer supply store) will make them a permanent piece of equipment for you.

PP, i have re-run this setup 8 times, and at no times have i received a CTD. I've sailed into the main harbor on TDCx8xxx and still could not find anything that would cause a CTD...

Mind you, perhaps i shouls install v0.53 also - and retest ?:hmmm:

Good morning JO313,

Having just used SH4CMS I can offer you my assistance on this matter:

1 - Install SH4 from your normal install media
I used C:/Games/Silent Hunter 4 Editions/Wolves of the Pacific <--- You need to rename the folder as thus for SH4CMS to work.

2 - update with UBM update into the same directory.

3 - I then unzipped SH4CMS and then added the folder "SH4CorruptionManagementSystem" to C:/Games/Silent Hunter 4 Editions/SH4CorruptionManagementSystem

As an example, my directory structure would look like this:

C:/Games/Silent Hunter 4 Editions/Wolves of the Pacific
C:/Games/Silent Hunter 4 Editions/SH4CorruptionManagementSystem

4 - With Windows explorer, navigate to your SH4CorruptionManagementSystem directory, which for me was
C:/Games/Silent Hunter 4 Editions/SH4CorruptionManagementSystem and double-click StartSH4CMS.

5 - You should see this menu:

Silent Hunter 4 Corruption Management System

Choices: 1. Webster's Mod Soup Fix
2. Make SH4Pristeen protected game file repository (takes 5.5 GB)
3. Make or fix SH4GFO game installation
4. Make or fix SH4RFB game installation
5. Make or fix SH4TMO game installation
6. Make or fix SH4ROTRS game installation
7. Make or fix SH4FOTRSU game installation

8. Quit

Choose the choice of your choice (1-8): Select option 2

6 - SH4CMS automatically produces a directory named \SH4 Pristeen.
It copies all the files that are in \Wolves of the Pacific, places the copies into \SH4 Pristeen. Then it installs JSGME.exe, JSGME.ini, Large Address Aware.exe and MultiSH4.exe into the pristeen directory.

Lastly, it write protects all the files and directories in SH4 Pristeen. That means that it is impossible to play the files there and they are protected against further modifications.

As an example, my directory structure would look like this:

C:/Games/Silent Hunter 4 Editions/Wolves of the Pacific
C:/Games/Silent Hunter 4 Editions/SH4CorruptionManagementSystem

C:/Games/Silent Hunter 4 Editions/SH4 Pristeen

Next, you'll want to make independent installations for any supermods you might want to play. Type the selection, 3 through 7 and it will make a game installation directory for that supermod.

As an example, my directory structure would look like this:

C:/Games/Silent Hunter 4 Editions/Wolves of the Pacific
C:/Games/Silent Hunter 4 Editions/SH4CorruptionManagementSystem

C:/Games/Silent Hunter 4 Editions/SH4 Pristeen

C:/Games/Silent Hunter 4 Editions/SH4FOTRSU

These are names only. There's nothing preventing you from making an SH4GFO installation and using TMO + RSRDC + OTC + Ralles Mod Soup in there.

After you've made your game installation, go into the directory to run Large Address Aware to set SH4.exe and JSGME.exe to be aware of memory above 2 GB.

If you desire to have multiple game installations simultaneously, run MultiSH4.exe to make separate save game and settings directories in your \Documents folder. Finally, run JSGME to produce a \MODS
folder, then IMMEDIATELY perform a Tasks.... /generate snapshot of game files. Now you are ready to play SH4.

Hope that makes sense..:hmmm:

Peter

Did you use LAA on your SH4.exe? I run the same resolution but it will CTD without LAA!

THEBERBSTER 02-09-17 11:16 AM

Hi Guys
I logically selected the 1920 x 1080 mod for my native resolution.
SH4 of course goes back to the old vga days of 4.3
Replacing with the 1024 x 768 mod now working successfully.
Peter
