I don't know what you mean by the original version, but SH5 has loads of DRM software on it, and I don't know if you'll ever find a free copy that you can play properly. Try the link Zedi already kindly provided about 3 posts ago off Amazon, or one off Steam that I use.

Just type 'Silent Hunter 5 digital copy' into google and do some shopping! I mean Amazon is selling it for $4.60 which is like 48000 IRR. But as Zedi warned, do not buy a used copy!

You guys should be able to have a credit card in Iran. That can be used to buy stuff online. Its a bit hard when you do it first time because there is a lot of forms to be filled and good english is required. But with that credit card you can buy other games too and usually the digital copy of a game is cheaper than the one you buy in store, simply because the cost for printing the box and manual is cut off.

This sound maybe a bit complicated, but to make a pirated game to work properly and also stay safe from viruses and other troubles is much more complicated. But if your problem is that 16$ is too much ... I dont think that anybody can help you on that matter. I feel you and wish I could help more.

Anyway, just to avoid being off topic my advice for you would be to try playing SH3. That game is like completely free but I cannot get into details. Take your time and look around, eventually you will figure out what I mean. Not to mention that SH3 is a complete game compared to SH5 where we still fix bugs and add missing features. Wish you best luck and remember, we dont talk about pirated games here even if you have strong reasons to do so.

OK thanks to this thread I've finally found out how to get to the guns. Now I need to know how to make precise course and depth settings. When I get far enough along in the campaign to get radar, I like to run with decks awash to keep my profile really down.

Also, I really need to be able to set courses beyond going where I'm looking. We used to have depth gauges and compasses to set the course. Is there a way to do that?

I requested the mission(British Coastal Waters).I completed the objective(patrol designed area).I received a message(patrol another area or return to base).I sank more than 50000 tons of merchants.Then i returned to base and i did this again.but the mission won't finish and the line under the mission won't fill.
But the Historical Mission is not like this.when i complete the objective the mission will finish.
I need your help!!!

I seem to be the only person on the whole internet to ask this question:

How do you retract the periscopes? At first, it's retracted, but when you use it, it obviously extends, but when you leave it, it stays up. I want it down!

How does the hydrophone work? I get how I rotate the well and all that, but I hear the same engine sound no matter how the wheel is set..

It's best to use the hydrophone at all stop or very slow speeds to reduce the background noise.

Don't forget that you need to be at periscope depth so that it is submerged.

The "F1" key is very useful as you can see all the available commands. Shift + page down will retract the observation periscope. Alternatively in the command room you can put your cursor on the periscope and hit page down to get it down :)

I did the sink 50.000 tons mission at the east British coast.
Now when I was about to return to Germany I got bombed by a few RAF planes and got pretty much my entire Sub destroyed, I repaired pretty much everything but the engines are marked red and I can't repair them, now I'm stuck at the coast and more and more planes keep coming. HELP! :wah:

I think you should go under water to avoid them,You can't repair those engines.
If you want to fix them you have no chance.

Hey, is it possible to set speed under 2 knots?
I have MO, NewUI's and few other mods.
Being hunted by 6 destroyers :-?

Press Ctrl to go to advanced HUD mode so you can click speed/depth wanted :up:

I'm using your's SH3 style dials and when i set manual speed it won't work :(
