Hey Leo

Mmmm..it's almost 9.40 in the evening here in Belgium (that's P.M i believe isn't it).
So ...2.20 to go and it's friday the 21th....do we europeans get the mod earl...naaah!..just kidding .

Little question Leo ...i play T.M. (latest) and this mod is a MUST have (i'll start a new career ..n.p. ...want to see those lightnings for sure)
But i am also intrested in the mod Mav87th Real Navigation Mod v.1.3 that he released resently (hope it can be made JSGME btw)

Is it possible to install this mod with ROW Leo ? Or will there be conflicts ..thank you ?

Asking if I can apply my work to it but never got a reply so that is a no go. I can not release his work as a mod without concent. So all I can do is apply changes manualy to someone's scene file using that mod then keep it set aside for anyone who wants it and asks for it on a PM only bases.

But is was through his work and research that I was able to find out that the game perfectly simulates the celestrial rotation of all the objects in the game. Something that Bill Nichols pointed out for me early on in this mod work that helped me out. But in his scene file he has only the first release of LBO set up in it not the second rework of it from what I noticed at a glance through it.

And the camera mod that l3th4l made for this mod will not work with MAV87's navigation mod either.

Bill Nichols 09-20-07 03:13 PM

No, I'm not using the Real Navigation Mod. I am using a mod (don't recall where it came from) that gives a smaller, more realistic moon.

leovampire 09-20-07 03:22 PM

ooopppsss my bad Bill thought you were using it LOL!!

BTW Bill I didn't use that mod moon and went with Kriller's instead because I could easily match up the sun and Moon's size perfectly with his so that they are always the same size where as I could not do it with the moon you asked me to look at and consider. I busted Kriller2's butt for a while to make me a moon that I needed to make it work right in the game and he managed to get it done for me.

Thats good to hear Leo really didn't want to delete my current career in USS Triton and what with sqk7744 doing me a kill mod skin and a brilliant battle flag (need to put that up as part of a sig) would be a shame to let Triton go so soon. Made a resolution too not to abuse save games if I got sunk, so far so good. Think I can let the lightening go for now.

Anyway looking forward to tomorrow, thanks for all the hard work Leo, Kriller and co!

just do what I did. I set up the game so the first choice of name's and matching SS numbers for the sub is always the one I want. I put that one as null in time frames and the others as a later date so no matter what I get the names of the sub's I want. I did that to the Balao and Gato as well! Found a name I liked and made it so that name is always the one the game uses. But have to be in port to make the change or the game will not load properly if at all. Date changes only work from in port on for all ship's and sub's and plane's.

May not be historicly accurate but have some cool names to go along with the new sub's when I accept them.

As a quick note to something I notice for game slow down's

With Window's XP as I am sure most of you know it dosn't always release ram both physicle and vritual as it should. When SHIV starts to reach half of my availabe ram being used the game starts to slow down and do funny things in all effect's and ranges.

Once you save then shut off the game and then restart the game and load up all the problems go away.

I have a program that shows me at all times what kind of draw is being put on my PC from CPU usage to hard drive work and ram of all types that are set up.

Everytime the game screws up on me half of my ram is being used. I hope this helps people to understand and fix problems that start to happen after long periods of game play.

Once all that ram is released the game works great. BTW half of my ram is 2 gig's and once I let the game keep going to see how far it will go and it actualy reached 3.5 gig's of ram so the game can demand a lot over time.

mrbeast 09-20-07 04:54 PM

Thanks for the info Leo might give that a whirl:up:

leovampire 09-20-07 05:34 PM

BTW as a packaged up deal the mod is 156 mb

But once it is unpacked the total size of the mod is 354 mb just to give a slight indication of how much work went into this.

Could someone write up a quick note on "making sh4 look better for dummies"? I haven't been able to follow all of this, and it's confusing... there's kriller's mod that seems to contain LBO, reflections on the water, and seemingly half a dozen others that all overwrite parts of each other.

I'd really like to see JGSME screenshots of how y'all install these mods. It may seem simple to release a JGSME compatible mod and trust that it's all good, but there's a lot of stuff out there. Right now, I think I install the old LBO and then Kriller's 1.1 which overwrites scene.dat, which I think matches LBO.

And of course, all this will change Friday it seems. My impression is that ROTW replaces LBO and adds new stuff, Kriller's has some additional things, but it's all very confusing to be honest.

In short, LBO and Krillers are joined as one. You can deactivate these mods and remove if you would like. The new mod will contain LBO/Krillerz upgrade/new reflections. It is a total package. Do not be afraid of losing FPS. In fact, I have gained a few depending on what water/sky is rendered. I have all of the mod package cranking. No loss of FPS with fires and oil burning. I run a three year old computer.

What AVGWarhawk said! Far as other mods, my impression from reading here is put ROTW on last and let it overwrite whatever it wants.

Yep, it's confusing, all these mods! Don't worry about it ;) Computers have a lot in common with "waltzing bears", the miracle is not how well the computer works, the miracle is that it works at all !!!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Jeez-a-whiz Leo that is mind-boggling!!!! I remember buying my 1st computer game not too many years ago, it was distributed on state-of-the-art media... an ordinary cassette tape :rotfl: Not too many years after that, I got my 1st system with a double-side 5 1/4" floppy holding a whopping 360K!

Haven't been into computers long enough to remember when a game might come on a punch card deck, though I did write my first code on a card-punch machine.

Just unbelievable that you guys have come up with a 300+ meg mod so fast :D I'm looking forward to the D/L tomorrow  (If I'm lucky enough to get it, I imagine the bandwidth on the host will be used up within an hour of release...)

Okay there is a special program needed to unpack it

When I post the mod you will need to get this download and install it. It is a high end vs of winzip and winrar that someone made that allows you to package up things even smaller than normal and allows you to also unpack them when they are in this form.

Then you download the mod pack and use the program to unpack it!

Inside of the folder you will find everything you need to install any part of the mod manualy using JSGME. There is a web based read me in the folder that will give you step by step information on what it does how it does it and so on and so forth. And also a button to let it install it's self if you don't want to be bothered with doing it manualy and it will add everything for you!

So we are going to pray you all can get it in your game with a minimal of problems.

I am about to send all of this to a couple of testers and let them see if they can do it for themselves easily enough.

Even at uploading it at 400 kbps it is going to take 50 min so bare with me testers.

Then I will go into hidding incase their PC's blow up and or the game disapears. :rotfl:

Because I didn't make the install program or none of that stuff so have no clue how it all works to be honest. Kriller2 is friends with someone who knows all of this stuff here on the Sub Sim network and got him to help with it. Then he droped the ball into my lap and said here you go Dave it's all yours to release! :damn:  :88) :dead:

Sweet looks like a might have a new laptop in a couple of days, looking to try and get one over here, an hp dv9500t with the geforce 8600, any body here with a lappy with one of these, wondering how much of an improvement ill get from the ati x1300 on this toughbook im using.
Back to the mod, ive been torture testing this thing as much as i can, in between ops, and havent had any problems whatsoever, thats great considering the laptop im using currently. The newest stuff u gave me leo is unbelievable, alot of realistic touches with how the sun and light reflects midday and so on. Oh and believe me ive done the dame thing as leo and reloaded a save a couple of times just to watch a sunset. Its a freakin dream, u guys with high res and great rigs wow i think ur eyes are going to pop right out of your head tommorrow.

If thiers one word to describe this mod u awesome modders have made, its simply AMAZING:rock::rock::rock::rock::rock::rock:

Feels like I am trying to put a new game out instead of a mod and everyone with the right sence of mind ran away and jumped ship but me. :damn:
