We all have heard 'smoke on the water' now there is oil on the water! There is no FPS hit at all with this mod. The new water/debrie explosion is just fantastic. Sorry no screenshot as my jaw was on my keyboard when the torp hit;) . There was no FPS hit with the new explosion/fire. Currenlty with my whimpy computer I only experience FPS hits at port and this was the case before the new textures were introduced. A few things however, I do not use the fog or sunglare function in the game. These two do kill my FPS. These boxes are left unchecked. I do check all the other boxes. Sliders are half or full.

Rig:
AMD 3200+
2 gig DDR400 ram
X1300 XGE 512mb card

I'm not a FPS junkie and my rig's average FPS is 25. This is playable for me.

Yeah, anybody know roughly when that might be?

alunatic 09-16-07 01:54 AM

I have no clue but I hope it's soon, but you cant rush great things lol.

AVGWarhawk 09-16-07 06:20 AM

Lets just say it is over the hump. Seafoam textures look to have been selected. From what I gather this should be out very soon.

Example of water reflection screenshot. The new fire/smoke textures are excellent. Please note the dark smoke from the stack. This can be seen from a good distance. Great for tracking and stalking the targets. When you get the chance to have the moon behind your targets the silouette of ship and smoke is really cool. Sorry, no screenshot as drowl over the visuals shorted out my keyboard:roll:

rcjonessnp175 09-16-07 10:07 AM

Ha whos ur daddy! Well heres some of the great moonreflections, u have to see it in motion to really see how awesome it is. Its like crysis, u have to see it in motion screenshots dont do it any justice trust me. Leo thats the cruiser i was talking about, and she never sank, i even surfaced and put a couple of shells in her, but the angry dragon awoke and started shooting back, so i tucked tail and went back and reloaded torps at port. Sorry if the shots r dark, once that moon was up at 12 oclock high it was amazing, reminded me of all the patrols through the woods undermoonlight, AvgWarhawk u r right, definately alot of jaw drops and drooling going on on my boat too! Again no lose of Fps on my little super rig in my sig.

I am not so patiently awaiting release! :arrgh!:

Please try to release it by this evening, I don't have much time for SH4 during the week..

leovampire 09-16-07 01:22 PM

Sorry Soviet_Warlord

But there are too many people involved in this and everyone has to be done with their work and tested before a release that we all agree is right and some of the new effect's like the Oil Slik work and some new fire effect's and what not just are not perfect yet.

We are adding stuff the game never had ever since it's first release and that is not easy to do so little bugs come up that have to be ironed out.

I will keep everyone informend as best as possable but it won't be this weekend sorry about that.

The sea foam took about 2 weeks to nail down and get the right texture and get it to look right alone.

Rather have it right before release so just a bit longer. It is too complicated a mod with too many parts to just release without finishing what we are doing.

So far with l3th4l new Oil Slik effect and new fire effect's for it I have counted about 200 new settings in the particles file just related to these 2 new effect's so it takes a little time to match it all up with the other effect's in the game for reflections and wind coef and so forth. Then test it to make sure you get it right.

... I have to stop visiting this thread... the screens... ooh man those screens. They're going to cost me my keyboard if I keep this up.

Not going to come back until I see [REL] in front of the post. :88)

Bin sitting in port for weeks now, I wonder if the Admiralty noticed that yet :-?
