I don't want to make an official release yet as the pennants still need to be animated and I have to work out the bug with the snorkel or move the key sequence to something else. This is a 'tester' thread for the final version. I'm getting great feedback and ideas from forum members on this.
When it's finalized I will make a new thread for it.

Would it not be possible to tie the pennants to the Enter key, as GWX already has changed the "fire" command to Cntl + Enter?

Currently it's tied to the 'x' key, not the enter key. The 'x' key is also the raise/lower snorkel key.

I just thought that if tied to the Enter key, the pennants could be raised and lowered without raising and lowering the snorkel.

GWX didn't invent a new 'key' for fire, they just remapped it in the commands_en.cfg file. We have to use commands that are already in place by the devs as there's no way to create new ones (that I/anyone else is aware of). One of those that I can tie onto is raise/lower snorkel. I'm going to try and use the radar on/off key and see what happens.

But then we get the same problem as using snorkel, and you get earlier an radar then an snorkel. Maybe you should make this mod only (at the moment) for early towers where you can use the snorkelbutton. I do not think that a sub returned in 44 with pennants at his Obs-scope. At this time they had other problems then this.:roll:

if you can do 3D modelling then yes, I could use the help. I have to make the keyframes for the pennants to make them appear to wave in the air.

Dunno how it'd look animated but it shouldn't look to bad, although the length of the pennant always stays the same, but I think that wouldn't be too hard to correct, the overall scale of the model is probably way off anyway.

It's not textured tho.

Edit: I dunno how the flags in SH 3 are made, but I guess they have zero thickness, if you want that for the pennants too I could collapse the upper and lower edges seen in the picture into one vertex, if you want.

came to a little problem here with the 7c_2_hd.dat Turm. There are no flagpoles located on the turm and placing the flags where I have been results in the flags 'bumping' into the flak gun. So I created my own flagpoles and attached them to the turm. Here is a tester to look at and evaluate:

What the concensus on this? Yes or no? I will have the same problem with the 9c Turms so this is my fix for all the Turms without flagpoles.
Being how my knowledge of the files and of 3D modelling has grown quite substantially I can make different flagpoles, move them to different spots, whatever the forum here thinks is best for this little problem.
It includes a single mission so select 7c_Flag_test in single missions and make sure the year is 1942 for the VIIc sub.
