You may get a proper response to your question, but I wanted to mention, if you don't know, there is a weather mod that will help which I assume many of us will continue to use in tandem with SH3 Commander which executes the weather mod for you. And I'm sure you will still be able to use both of the programs with GWX. :)

I've been doing some focused testing so i can't answer as to how often the weather changes, but i can tell you that lack of weather changing is, generally speaking a stock bug. Every X amount of time, the weather has a *Chance* to change. Everytime you reload a saved game the clock that keeps track of the weather change chance to occur is reset. That said, in GWX foul weather causing a rough sea state is advantagous to you in terms of detection or evasion. You should acutally be afraid of a clear calm day if about to execute an attack, as clear and calm are perfect sonar conditions.

I was hoping that the GWX would have solved this shortcoming from the orignal game.

Also, what is the highest time compression do you recommend to not mess with the weather or airplanes? I can't imagine having to play this game on a 1:1 time compression from start to finish of a mission.

BTW, I am really excited reading about GWX and jealous as I feel I am driving a 10 year old beater car (GW1.a), while you guys are out crusing in a new 2007 sports car (GWX).:yep:

What I do is save my game when the weather is where I want. Then I check the weather every 24 game hours and if its still where I want it I save it. Then if the weather goes to crap, I reload my save game thereby resetting the "weather clock".

Sucks as I dont mind foul weather for a few days...but for a month or more from the Port to the East Coast of the USA, then back to Port is just dumb.

It's called SH3Weather and you can read about it here.

It's a neat little program but I haven't done enough testing to see if it's needed with GWX yet, or if it even works with GWX. SH3 Commander will automatically start up the program for you if it's located in your SH3 folder. With NYGM 2.2 it worked just great.

Maybe I jumped the gun a little bit in regards to whether or not it would work with GWX. Time will tell.

I'm sure it will, I'm just not totally sure how it makes the changes to the files it changes and if it could break anything GWX had changed.

I dont get this, I`ve almost never experienced the same weather for very long. :hmm:

I belive the sensors are spot on.:yep: Now i feel like the old man from Das Boot:o You can still get in kill some merchants then get out but now you have to plan it. Rather than just running in all guns blazing this will lead you to getting detected straight away.

And now you have to think if a tramp steamer is really worth the risk.

Oooh just like in 45 can't go in guns blazing which I don't anyway but someone sooner or later will make a mistake and boom.
