Okay here's two pictures, one from an old version of ROW, months back and one from the ROW I have now. Can you see what I mean when I say cartoony? It might be something to do with the clouds... maybe they're not the correct colours in relation to the sky backdrop.

Also, I'm guessing it's not possible to lose the sun shining through the hull.

All options ticked, apart from full screen glare and ppf.
Try turn both on, this version is made to make good use of PPF.

BTW here is a real shot from the pacific sunset. You are right about the clouds being to bright at sun sets and sun rise Ryan, I will see if something can be done about that.

Kriller2

I like Krillers new clouds and I believe they help with the FPS. With the old ROW I notice an absense of white fluffy type clouds that Kriller has now. I would not change a thing.

Thanks AvgHawk, but I think that Ryan do have a point about the colours of the clouds.

Here is something I am testing now:

As you see the clouds reflect the light from the sun much better, it was something I didn't know how to work with before but I am learning day by day :p this will add to the immersion of the sun rising.

@Ryan what do you think better - are you interested in testing this for me?

Looks good kriller, however like AVG, I thought the latest ones were fine :yep:
Nothing wrong with continuing to tweak them though.

Of course, I'd be glad to help out. Send me the files. I can tell you from the screenshots alone it's a big step in the right direction. The strong colours in the sky are less pronounced now because they no longer clash with the clouds.

I like those newer 'test' clouds a lot more.

Hi Alex and Defiance,

Thanks  I am just trying to finish what me and Dave started one year ago and learning new stuff along the way.

It realy is a shame that he aint around, it would be nice to chat with him and share his excitement for what can be archived with the amazing engine the romanian developers has created for silent hunter 4, if they had more time the final product could have been like ROW (or better), but unfortunately game-developers are on a time-schedule and have to hurry things.. They havent got one year to learn there own engine ;)

Defiance 02-13-08 09:40 PM

Hiya K2,
Yeah not a day passes without me wishing dave was still here but alas so many decent people seem to be took before their time :( , But no doubt he would be pleased with your work and carrying on with row etc :)

As always just take take your time we are here for what you create so allow yourself time to learn etc

Really loving your creations (as usual he he)

Have Fun

Take Care

Ciao

Forgive me if this is a stupid question, but what mod(s) are you using for the sea? I use the ROW textures and the addon for ROW and my waves doesnt look anything like that.

Cheers

Alex 02-14-08 05:13 AM

@ Kriller : About Dave, yes, it's a shame not to have him around us on here any more, and you probably feel his absence more than anybody else yourself... But I think the greatest thing we can do is keeping a place for him in our hearts, and keeping thinking about him... Dave's spirit keeps living on this game.

And yes, I agree, the devs don't have enough time to polish their own creations while developing the game itself... The greatest thing being that they have made it editable for you all non-stopping modders ! ;)
