Hello
I have a ati card, had 1650 pro, and now have hd3780. I downloaded ROW SKY and ocean controlsvs_5 and WOW WOOW:D :D this is what i wanted   Now i have, tm1.76, row sky and ocean controls = all i need. i have this problem with full scene glare, it has nothing to do with tm 1.76 or row, too much glare on deck crew, i think it is ati problem but not sure. it is with both of my ati cards. is there away to reduce glare on deck crew. is there a mod?:hmm: |
Not sure that there is a mod\fix, I sometimes get this with my Nvidia Card as well. Hard on the eyes those orange shirts :o

Hello and thanks:D
Now we know it is with both ati and nvidia cards. Maybe this "orange shirts halo" problem, is with crew textures.:hmm: |
Be interesting if that could be toned down so to speak.

Just wanted to second the nub who said the shell explosions look nasty. Just like a single sprite that expands then shrinks. Kinda like an explosion you'd expect to see in Duke Nukem 3D  ...and looks odd in comparison to the rest of the graphics.
Also, is anyone running ROW with NSM4, TM & RSRD? Not sure my installation orders right as early on in the night my water is jet black, I TC into the early hours and it seems to be ok again. So many great mods, but with all the updates and possible combinations it feels like your forever jiggling them around. If someone whos running these four could post their JSGME snapshot I'd be very grateful. |

I hope well aimed critisism won't cause offence here. I just had a quick look with all the new stuff, and I really think ROWs taken a step backwards at some point. It might just be the pacific environment that needs work but it all just looks very gaudy, like a cartoon or as if I'm on acid. In particular the sunsets & sunrises. I saw a hell of a lot of bright pink at one point and it was reaaally heavy on the eyes.
It may be because I've been playing GWX2.0 in SH3 but if you take a look at GWX2.0 the ocean looks far better, the only downside being that the water isn't transparent. The water is just (hard to describe) more fluid and less ragged looking. I have 4xAA in SH3 and I realise this may help a lot but I turned it on in SH4 and it still dosn't come close. SH3's an old game now, SH4 should be beating it to a pulp! One last gripe I have with the SH4 ocean is that the wave motion is affected by camera movement, as if the two are intertwined. If you look off the port side and move shake your head slowly from left to right, you'll see the wobble effect. On the plus side (seems my mods are installed better now) the night time scenery is still stunning, ie the ripples and light reflecting off the surface. And of course the underwater graphics are far superior to SH3. |

Yes the colours are pink and purple and cyan, but if you look on picture from Japan, Hawai, Fiji I think the colours are very near what yo would see at those places. You are being harsh when you are saying this mod has taken a step backward :nope: , because you can't compare the atlantic to the pacific it's 2 different locations with it's own unique enviroments / colours... I have used alot of time studying the colours before deciding on the colours for the new edition of ROW and I am not on any kind of drug ;) The same thing applies to the underwater scenery using real scubba diving pictures to make it look as close to reality as I could given the limits of the SH4-render engine. About the wave motion that is affected by camera movement: This is something that lies deep in the way the SH4-engine works and unfortunately can't be modded. Anyway you are the first to post about that so I must have done something right :|\\ It's good you like the night-colours and reflections that was one of things I tried to improve in the new version. Kriller2 |
Hmmm... I can't understand what's going on then Kriller. Just seems like too much saturation but I'm all for accuracy and I can't fault you taking colours from actual images. I would 've thought it fool proof. Maybe something is lost in translation from reality to camera image, camera image to pixels. We know a camera doesn't always show what the eye sees.
I'm just the critic though and can't even begin to understand the complex work your doing. Just my way of trying to contribute. :) The night shots DO look photo realistic but (for me) reality is shattered when the sun comes up. I went through a thick storm on my travels also, and that looked (and sounded) excellent. EDIT: PS Can I just clarify, I don't need the ROW add-on with the Pacific Environment installed? |

Thanks for contributing Ryan, I hope you get the pacific enviroments up and runing. Allso look inside the readme there is tip to enable the dynamic shadows :) |

Also, I'm still not dead certain on the install order... this is what I have right now: TM (parts 1,2,3) ROW camera ROW ship reflections ROW object reflections ROW textures with sun halo v5 Pacific environment for ROW RSRD NSM4 classic NSM4 torp malfunction ROW depth charge shake ROW sound effects v8 ROW special effects for NSM4 classic Realistic torpedo wake Please let me know if you can see any obvious mistakes. :88) Thanks! |
....on topic with the sunrises and sunsets it pays to visit you Video Cards Control Panel and make adjustments there. You will be amazed what you can accomplish to suit your taste. I am familiar with Nvidia only; so for those users I use Nhancer which controls all the settings plus more that the new Nvidia CP does not offer. You can make custom profiles with your preferred settings linked directly the the SH4 executable. Nhancer is daunting at first but it will not break anything and if you just dont like it at all just uninstall.
I have two seperate profiles for SH3 and SH4 which load when the game starts. You kind of tweak the visual look to suit your taste. For me the new Pacific Environment is the right step in reproducing the Pacific and especially the Pacific Rim area of where we patrol. The lighting in that part of world during sunrise and sunset are just astonishing and breath taking. |
