There must have been some crappy coding in stock SH3, because this looks SO much better, and performs similar to stock.

Any plans to to have the readme for GWX available as a separate download?
That way those of us with dialup can at least drool over the readme while we wait for GWX to download.

This is not official, but yes, I would think so.

I wouldnt say it has crappy coding. Its more of what you get when you are pushed and pushed to get something out the door before you get everything you want up and running in the game.

More than likely, Team GWX just finished the job that UBI couldnt do when they released the game...........within reason as in no SDK to really 'tweak' the game to its final conclusion.

At the very least, release what 'fubars' were fixed.

I read that the readme is about 100 pages long. Is that 100 pages of 'fix this, fix that' or is it 100 pages of 'now it does this and now it does that'?

There´s alot of various info on the readme. From changes to info about different ops that are included in GWX.

Won't Ubi be concerned about the effect on SHIV sales - because once word gets around about GWX, people who don't have currently have SH3 but see that SHIV is out, will be likely to go and buy cheap old SH3 and then DL GWX - rather than buy SHIV.

How about SH3 + GWX = SH4.2 > SHIV?

If mass sites like GameSpot and Gamespy etc are honest about it, they might come to this sort of conclusion.

I doubt it will affect sales. Its a different theater with different TOYS!

But I will SERIOUSLY be disappointed if SH IV ships with as many bugs as SH III. The devs have no excuse about adding a Single Player Campaign mode late in the development cycle to blame blatant bugs on this time. And just like SHIII they have a HUGE dedicated community that they can draw beta testers from.... no excuse for releasing a product with bugs that could be fixed by modders in the first weeks after it goes gold.

Well there's plenty of pictures and historical info as well.

I think I can say that without getting into trouble. :hmm:

I think i can safely say that the read me WILL NOT be released before GWX.
We want to keep some suprises you know ;)

I've spent quite some time going through the manual (as I like to call it, because trust me it is a manual not just a readme:up: ) of GWX and it's Brilliant. I wish the so called manual of SH3 was as good

stabiz 11-15-06 10:30 AM

It took me 20 miutes just to skim through it. I think I`ll print it out and read in bed.

I've been doing some focused testing so i can't answer as to how often the weather changes, but i can tell you that lack of weather changing is, generally speaking a stock bug. Every X amount of time, the weather has a *Chance* to change. Everytime you reload a saved game the clock that keeps track of the weather change chance to occur is reset. That said, in GWX foul weather causing a rough sea state is advantagous to you in terms of detection or evasion. You should acutally be afraid of a clear calm day if about to execute an attack, as clear and calm are perfect sonar conditions.

I was hoping that the GWX would have solved this shortcoming from the orignal game.

With this in mind, how do you veterans suggest that one play the game to deal with this weather time reset? Do you never reload a saved game? Do you pause and hit control/alt and leave the game paused in the background while using the computer for other stuff?

Also, what is the highest time compression do you recommend to not mess with the weather or airplanes? I can't imagine having to play this game on a 1:1 time compression from start to finish of a mission.

BTW, I am really excited reading about GWX and jealous as I feel I am driving a 10 year old beater car (GW1.a), while you guys are out crusing in a new 2007 sports car (GWX).:yep:

Well said. GWX readme will be better, because there are many chapters without text yet. Very good work
