The Farmers Weekly has reported we are truly delighted David Cameron has won and we can now cover our fields in more BS, it should be a bumper five years worth of crops to look forward too.

STEED 05-12-15 07:38 AM

All the council results are now in at long last.

SNP - centre left.
Scots Labour - has to go left of the SNP if it wants to get Glasgow back.
Scots Greens - further left.
Scottish Socialist/Radical Independence Campaign - further left still.

I think you can see the problem - no balance!:/\\!!

In the meantime, SLAB's meltdown continues:

I wonder how many knives will fit in Jim Murphy's back?

Not that I have any sympathy for him or SLAB - they brought it on themselves!

Can you imagine the pandemonium in the bars and cafe's in Westminster.
56 Scottish MP's trying to use Scottish Pound Notes!

BossMark 05-12-15 11:02 AM

'David Cameron addresses his Cabinet' - are you telling me 13 million people voted for a nutter who talks to his furniture?

STEED 05-12-15 12:32 PM

David Cameron came storming out the toilet saying why don't we have immigrants to wipe my bum! Theresa May said there on their way.

Oberon 05-12-15 08:33 PM

And here comes Tory time:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-32714802

In particular:

Quote:

The measures are also expected to introduce banning orders for extremist organisations who use hate speech in public places, but whose activities fall short of it being proscribed as a terror group.
According to details given by Mrs May at last year's Conservative Party conference, such orders would apply if ministers "reasonably believe" a group intended to incite religious or racial hatred, to threaten democracy, or if there was a pressing need to protect the public from harm, either from a risk of violence, public disorder, harassment or other criminal acts.
Gee...you don't think that that is going to get used against anti-austerity protestors do you?

Bloody idiots, their ineptitude has killed more British civilians than radical Islam has. :nope:

BossMark 05-13-15 04:34 AM

^^
And that is just for starters, just wait while they get going good and proper :wah::wah:

STEED 05-13-15 06:21 AM

Looks like I'm off to prison chaps as I hate the Tories 100% and let off steam having a good shout out my window from time to time.

Quote:

the government wants to "bring people together to ensure we are living together as one society".
Together in one society from the party that has done a good job dividing people!

Slight change of subject but also shows the Tories up..

The reforms would mean turnout for such a vote must be at least 50% while walkouts must have the support of 40% of workers eligible to vote.
https://uk.news.yahoo.com/government..._ylv=3#I7Pck3p

This is from a government that got 36.9% share of the vote! In my way of thinking I don't think they have any right to pass new laws.

STEED 05-13-15 06:30 AM

Quote:

Green Party leader Natalie Bennett has suggested she would be "happy" to work with Ukip to push for electoral reform.
The Greens received 1.1 million votes at the general election, while Ukip finished with almost four million - but both parties ended up with just one MP each.
After the results came in, Ms Bennett and Ukip leader Nigel Farage - who both failed to win a seat - spoke of their frustration at the first-past-the-post system.
https://uk.news.yahoo.com/greens-pon...5.html#wLNRPcw

The FPTP system is without question out of date and time for it too go. It's no longer a three party race it's a six party race.

After careful consideration and discussion with Neal we have decided to merge this and the Tories threads together.

There is no accusation of foul play or anything else but it is felt one thread on the theme of UK politics is sufficient and in keeping with the previous decisions taken on topics involving Obama and gun control etc.

In addition it gives everyone the opportunity to submit their comments on whichever party and whatever policies they would like to comment on.

BossMark 05-13-15 11:02 AM

Perhaps the Tories have gone too far in privatising the NHS.

I've just been told I have McAIDS.

Works for me, Jim. We can slag the Tories off and discuss the politics seriously in one thread, I'd wager. :yep:

STEED 05-13-15 12:23 PM

What about the rest of the world?

We Brits understand it but they may get...:-?

And think us Brits are.. :88)

Im confused, Do you vote for a prime minister or do you vote for a party and they decide who represents them?

Also what good is having a monarchy if the Queen (or King) cant say to hell with it, off with his head!

They're national symbols, public relations mascots, and a moneymaking industry all in one. They divide their time between charitable work and having entertaining scandals.

Besides, the alternative, a President Cameron (or Presidents Brown, Blair, Major, Thatcher, etc.) is so repellant a concept to your average Brit as to kill the debate about killing off the monarchy.

Besides, think of all the tabloid reporters who would be without a job if the Royal Family weren't there to provide them with stuff to get outraged at? :D

MGR1 05-14-15 02:53 AM

President Anthony Charles Lynton "Tony" Blair.:o

That's got to be the best advertisement for keeping the Monarchy you can think of!

Along with the thought of Fat 'Eck being President of an independent Republic of Scotland......

Indeed, God help us, a President Cameron or a President Brown...egads, it's enough to make your hair curl.

The Monarch can't shut down a parliament, the Fixed-term Parliaments Act of 2011 removed that particular power. It's not been used in the UK by the monarch since 1834 anyway, and I think even overseas it's handled by the Governor-General, it certainly was in Australia in '75 anyway, and it's very rare and must be very serious for the Queen (or King) to actively get involved in a parliamentary crisis.
The shadow of 1640 still hangs over our monarch-parliament affairs, the monarch remembers that the last monarch to try to rule without parliament had his head removed, and parliament remembers the dismal failure that was the English Republic. :03:

I see in the news UKIP is at war with its self first Douglas Carswell saying he dose not need to use the £650,000 in full and UKIP goes a bit potty telling him he must. On this one I will defend Mr Carswell who shows common sense just a shame the rest of Westminster MP's don't with their money.

Moving on..

Quote:

Nigel Farage has become a "snarling, thin-skinned, aggressive" man, UKIP's election campaign chief has said in a powerful attack on the party leader.
Economics spokesman Patrick O'Flynn told The Times Mr Farage risked turning the party into a "personality cult".
And a senior UKIP source told the BBC that Mr Farage should face a leadership contest.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-32732129

Well to a point I agree Farage stepped down and there for if he wants the leadership again stand in the leadership election. Just because his fan club said no you must stay dose not mean he can say well my fan club has spoken.

Indeed, it was a savvy decision by Carswell. I don't like UKIP but I think he made the right choice, however Farages fan club seem to be ready to try to keep him in power wherever they can. That kind of thinking will destroy the party with a civil war if they don't watch out. :hmmm:
