OK,I understand.Just another step to reality...

I'm getting annoyed with those 2 planes flying around Midway day and night, leaving and entering port is a bloody nightmare, what file would I need to edit to remove them.

I've mentioned this problem early in the development of FOTRSU, I'm glad to see that someone finally agrees with me. I believe the file you need to look at is in the Campaigns folder and is titled US Bases.

The tga files for the most part are all dds, but not all of them apparently. Should not matter. I'm wondering if there isn't a "date" off, or maybe those missing lines I was talking about the other day. ?? It is very difficult to reproduce these results though. We've had skinning that disappears from the vessel, but not the guns, like this one, and times where the skinning disappears from the guns, but not the vessel. Very strange. Do you happen to know the date on this one cdrsubron7, to maybe we can ID the file it's coming from? It's probably yours and my fault... 'specially yers... :har: - but seriously, there's most likely something wrong in the campaign files (that'd be me), since the Museum seems to do just fine... I think. I sure would like to be able to blame it on s7rikeback, especially since he can't defend himself right now... :har:

I'm going to say that some of the odd texturing issues might even be a Campaign issue. ~ANYTHING~ that's off in the Campaign files has consequences, and not all of them are CTD territory, so since the vessels seem to be OK in the Museum every time I've checked, I'm looking elsewhere (and I'm getting very bored checking the Museum 2 and 3 times each time I load the game).

Hmm i saw what you did there... :o

tis not my fault.. there are no .tga files in that folder, however i did find 4 in NKMCS_HANSA which i have now got a patch for... other than these 4 .tga files the sea folder in v0.30 master file is now clean.. so we may have a dirty couldron somewhere.:hmmm:

I will download v0.40 on thursday when i'm back online and recheck the sea folders..

Another thing, the NDD_Shiratsuyu has multiple skin changes depending on dates via roster. Do we have a date on when these were skins had errors? Its hard to read on a small mobile phone.

:har: yer off-line & defenseless, yer blamed, that's all there is to it... :har:

Hello Moonlight! Do you have an approximate date?:

Here's something that probably is in s7rikeback's domain. I was cruising SE of Tokyo Bay when I picked up a radar contact. Turned out to be two Shiratsuyu DDs . Both of them looked like the screenie below.

I looked in the sea folder under NDD Shiratsuyu and couldn't see anything that was obvious at least to my limited knowledge. Did notice that there is still a tga files in there. I thought they were garbage. One other thing of note, the Shiratsuyu looked fine in the Museum. Wondering if this is the same one that max posted about, sure looks like it. The game engine got a little choppy after that encounter also.

Second glance here, looks like the same guns, torpedo launchers, and depth charge racks...

Five skin call offs, same dates - perhaps a clash of skins ?

max-peck 12-06-16 03:25 PM

At first glance cannot see anything wrong
Here is the contents of the Sea folder next to the roster.cfg

http://i.imgur.com/nZvhsf6.png

The roster.cfg uses 5 different textures
All of them start in July '41 and end in December '45 - so it is not a date range issue
Cannot see any obvious typos in there

I will open up each of the texture files - maybe one of them is saved incorrectly :hmmm:

propbeanie 12-06-16 03:29 PM

It's been that way for quite a while, going by looking back through the beta period to the Alpha line...

All of them appear to have tga files for this one.

My photoshopLE crashes when opening some of them...

Edit: Check the Hatsuharu also, would you please, max-peck? Same issue with my PhotoshopLE crashing with it...

Nope - this is how the game works
Give it a choice of several skins on a specific date and it will randomly pick one

This is how I made Razzle Dazzle:03:

Take a closer look at the left hand side of my screenie
The texture files are all DDS format

Admittedly the roster file says it is looking for a TGA, but that is just SH4 lying to you :03:
The roster cfg looks at the filename it is after, and ignores the suffix (I suspect it may even have a preference for DDS files regardless of the suffix)

This is what we have been given by UBI :/\\!!

Check out other roster files - you will see they all call upon TGA files, and all actually load DDS files for the game

I will take a look at the Hatsuharu for you

max-peck 12-06-16 03:55 PM

I know nothing about the campaign files - so this is a question for our campaign specialists

Is there anything in the campaign files that you have seen where the game calls on a specific skin for a spawned ship?

I would think that unlikely - but I am just throwing it out there :03:

propbeanie 12-06-16 04:06 PM

No, nothing on calling for skins max-peck, just the date parameters, and ship calls. There are differences in file structure though, from one campaign layer to the next, and that's where my concern is. We have found that having one little "I" not dotted correctly in a campaign file can cause all sorts of strangeness. We're thinking, though not 100% certain, that the "super-spawn" of DD southeast of Tokyo was caused by two sets of DD set to spawn one every 24 hours on a northeasterly route. Their "termination point" didn't terminate them, so they kept driving around the world, looping back around to their origin, gradually adding to the "armada", until they stretched from horizon to horizon... maybe. But that's what it looked like in the Jap_HarborTraffic file if you "played" it in the ME... quite a sight by the time 1943 rolled around...

Looking back at v1.4 and v1.5, there are no airplanes flying CAP above Pearl or Midway at anytime that I've started a Career. I haven't tried TMO yet, but they had a few, if I'm remembering correctly. FotRS has a bee-hive of activity at Pearl practically the whole game, making it a bit of a process to get back into port there.
