I made a new occlusion map and a bump map for the Kaidai 3b.

She has her own rudder, I made a new rudder model.

I have renamed/remapped all files so it'll now be known as the Kaidai 3b.

I might release a stand alone version later tonight, after a little testing that is.

the tower 3D model is there to give a sense of where you are, it will off course be removed from the ingame dammage model. The cylinders are based on the blueprint you can see in the Blueprint thread I posted, it comes from the Maru Special # 31.

As you see we are trying to stick to reality here !

I found a guy who sold actual IJN submarine gauges on ebay last week (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=150320868935), so I downloaded the pictures he posted and used those (belived to be from a Karyu midget sub) to replace the gauges after I had the labels translated by Yattky before I used them.

keltos, I did some more research on how we can force the game which bump map to use for a model. As you know by now you can specify the bump map for hulls using configuration file. But there was no way to do this for the tower.

I found in data\library\characters\marine.dat some clues. The 'so-called' illumination chunk (I called it this way 1.5 years ago for lack of better understanding) you will find in this file many times (on materials), is used to define bump maps on the characters. I will rename this illumination chunk in a future S3D release so it indicates additional texture map (because it can be used for AO-map, specular map, and now bump map).

I have not tested if you can use it in other files, a scan of all game files indicates that this chunk is only used in marine.dat, but that doesn't mean it won't work. Go check that file out, borrow some chunks and see if you can get it to work on your tower.

I detached the barrel for both IJN guns so that they might have moving barrels like the stock gun.

As those guns had very inaccurate simple sights with two circles I used the simple sight from the vierling.

I used two good pictures of a submarine 5.5 inch deck gun of the IJN that were scaled to the right proportions to create this new gun, the heck with the 4.7 inch DG !!!

Historically accurate, well at least the I-8 had it, so it was really available, and listen well this twin 5.5 inch gun pack a wallop !

know issues : the early war type 89 has no wake and the Kaiten 2 doesn't yet have a dedicated model of its own.
