An addendum to Torplexed's first post, about the Soviet Union: not only were they sending unmanned vehicles to the moon, but they certainly had the technology to watch ours. If we had faked it, they would have been shouting it to the world in a heartbeat.

thats not how the cold war worked my friend many things where kept quiet on both side's and many deals done behind closed doors just consider this if it where true then they went to the moon with less computing power than todays calculators have it was truly faked with the best of intentions that was not to waste a god damn fortune acctually doing it

Actually the scariest thing about that movie (Capricorn One) was it had OJ Simpson in a starring role. :D

I guess we can wait until Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter departs for the moon in a couple years. That orbiter will have high resolution cameras and it's slated to photograph the landing sites. I don't think it'll be able to resolve footprints except perhaps under certain lighting conditions but it will be able to see many Apollo artifacts such as the descent module.

Of course, the hoaxers will believe its all faked but there is no convincing some people. It reminds me of what happened when the Mars Global Surveyer took high resolution images of the "face" on Mars, proving it was just an eroded mountain. The true believers couldn't accept that and kept dragging out the same over-processed low resolution images with their precious "face." Then there was another claim NASA had nuked it from orbit to prevent us from knowing alien civilizations are real.

Anway, what is the explanation for the waving USA flag? AFAIK, there isn't wind in the space. (Not that I don't believe, but it is an interesting question).

I can't believe it's 2006 and people are still discussing this.

Because of Armstrong and the rest of the crew, we know Aliens in space exist. In a documentary i saw on sky a few years back they interviewed Armstrong and other astronauts about aliens, they all admitted on televion that when they are above the earth they witness alot of UFO flying around, there were many of them. And there always are, every space flight you can garrantee they're see UFO's flying around. They were told to keep it zipped, until now they are speaking about it because UFO's are no longer a big deal anymore. But imagine if they came forward and said it back then.

I think that the american or whoever, has been on the moon, the are fotsteps in my garden.

Actually I think 2006 is part of the problem. It's been 34 years since a human being walked on the moon. I think people are starting to have a hard time believing we ever went.
