Not another Elway, he doesn't have that much arm, but he does run better. Much better than Vick in my opinion. He'll do well in the pros.

Amazing he piled up over 400 yards of offense..200 of it on the ground. I hope he sticks around for his senior year and wins the heisman next year.

Congratulations to UT !!

Yes, but all rushing QBs have the same problem, which is pass accuracy. College pass defense is notoriously lax, and consequently, young players have problems with the more intricate defensive coverages of the NFL. I think that you are right about him sticking out his senior year. None the less, you won't see him on my fantasy team whenever he decides to enter the draft.

Regarding Michael Vick, I think that we are seeing the decline of his prowess at the QB position. A rushing QB in the NFL is very much a gimmick that works for a few seasons. Defensive coordinators are starting to figure out ways to keep him in the pocket and shut off the running lanes.

Congratulations to the University of Texas. More importantly, congratulations to Penn State.

If Sixpack were perceptive, and I have a feeling that he is not, he would realize that the distastefulness, offensiveness, and stereotyping of my remarks are representative of his own comments.

That simple deduction seems to have passed you by as well.

I dunno, it just seems distasteful in this day and age to make such racial accusations, joke or no joke... This is just IMO, but I'm sure many others would agree.

I know Sixpack made a little remark at black people, but that's his bad. He shouldn't say things like that either...

Marhkimov 01-08-06 10:21 PM

Btw,

NFL DRAFT '06
1) Reggie Bush to the Texans
2) Matt Leinart to the Saints
3) Vince Young to the Titans

Let the bidding begin!

Sixpack 01-09-06 04:25 AM

I for one know stereotyping is not just a Dutch problem. Take a cold hard look in the mirror for a change ;)

It is striking however, much to my surprise, Neal called it 'a stereotype' :hmm:

PS I thought I had only made an obvious absurdish joke to provoke our ueber-Texan Onkel a lil', but you're right: I shouldnt do that. I have better things to do, and Neal as well. Some however didnt get it. Now go face that mirror..... And dont bother tellin' me, because I already know

Hey, it's cool... We all do it sometimes...

I caught that, too. Tasty medicine, eh? ;)

Actually, I felt stating simply that was a stereotype was the best response from me. Maybe it is your stereotype of black people, maybe it was your idea of a joke, I don't know. But you have to admit, Deathblow knew how to answer it :)

Anyway, no harm done.

I agree as well. 100% :yep: But anyway, back to the subject....

Hm.... I don't know if Vince will go that high or not..... to me it seems like his talent can go two ways. He can be the next Michael Vick, :yep: or the next.... Kornell Stuart  :88) :nope: Has he really proven that he can throw the ball successfully? Most people forget that Mike Vick has a absolute cannon for an arm (he can break fingers with his bullets), so teams have to respect his passing game at least a little. Can we say the same for Vince?

Marhkimov 01-09-06 06:23 PM

It seems that Vince Young is a more balanced player than Mike Vick. V.Young can be considered more of a natural gunslinger, who just so happens to have very shifty legs. He is a "true" football player, while Mike Vick is more of a pure playmaker... Really, I think those two guys are on opposite ends of the spectrum.

So Tennessee takes Young with the 3rd overall pick...

And I'm not sure what else Tennessee needs more? A QB is definately needed. With the McNair era coming to an end, I doubt there is a better QB candidate to lead them into the future. Unless of course we're talking about Leinart, but most likely New Orleans will pick him up with the 2nd pick. Aaron Brooks has proven himself to be nothing but a sack of inconsistency.

What Michael Vick are you talking about? The one that I know owns a meager 73.1 QB rating, 55.3% completion percentage and a very sad +2 TD/INT ratio. He can throw the ball as hard as he wants, but he can't put it where it is supposed to be. Aaron Brooks, Steve McNair, Brad Johnson, Kurt Warner, Marc Bulger, and Chris Simms all have him beat. Hardly a sign of a passing game worthy of respect.

Marhkimov 01-09-06 06:38 PM

When I look at Michael Vick's throwing mechanics, I am simply amazed.... But read on, I have two types of amazement:

Amazement #1 - WOW! Just look at how gracefully that ball sails through the air. That's the tightest looking spiral I've ever seen. Damn! That is one rockin' fastball. Seriously, you have to admit that Mike Vick possesses one of the most beautiful looking throws in NFL history. It is nothing but grace in motion.

Amazement #2 - WOW! Mike Vick can't hit the broadside of a Yamato, even if he tried! His passing accuracy is miniscule, he doesn't have a rhythm to his timing, and EVERY friggin' ball comes out as a fastball! Even in baseball, you need a curveball every once in a while. Mike Vick just doesn't have the touch, or the ability. He isn't a QB at heart.

So IMO, he posseses one of the best AND worst throwing motions of any QB in the NFL...

But then he wins games, so I dunno what else to say... He isn't a QB, but he's a born winner.
