The DBEditor induces a reaction shown, nicely by the avatar of Syxx_Killer in the thread ''Sorry Guys"

Sums it up nicely. ..........a trifle gorey :o

The frustration is so intolerable - I think, yes I might , be driven to cope by.........................having a boiled egg for breakfast.

At least I can bang it on the head. :rotfl:

Syxx's avtar has the caption '' When your last fish is a dud.''

Guess we know what he means. ;)

I don't have access (or any ms office) around, so I don't know about jsteeds editor.

What I do know, is the "most interesting" fields of the database, as seen from ludger's editor.

Is an explanation of these what people want?

mike_espo 09-03-05 12:54 PM

Ive been wondering, got the DB editor...looks cool..the inner workings of DW.

I think some things are off:

I would like the Ohio to be quieter: I detected it at 10nm with the Kilo Narrowband.....seems waaaaay too far.

Anyway, I don't understand the freq ranges for detection to edit them..

Any suggestions? Would any such change really make a difference?

thanks.

:sunny: That would be great for starters

But I cant run Ludgers - its in the Db but when I try to start it the Dos type box flashes up, disappears and nothing
happens. Now this may be 'security ' software getting in the way - but to date Enditall and terminating such
software has not helped me to start Ludgers Editor. :hmm:

I get a compiler error when I try to import the database from DW. Is there a step I am missing?

Once we are finished with the next version of our mod, I may write a short tutorial for the Ludgar's DB editor. :ping:

Hey LuftWolf. I am working on one and maybe within about a week I will post it or ask Bill to host.

But then Im thinking you will probally do a better job (Comp skills + better typing/writting skills = better job) so let me know and I wont continue.

Due to popular demand I have just sent a tutorial to Bill Nichols, (http://www.subguru.com/) on how to add a new navy to DW using DWDBEdit. With this, you should be able to add units to existing navies or create new ones. It will probably be up sometime tommorrow.

cheers, jsteed

Thanks jsteed.

This is a nice tutorial. But it would be nice to know what the values are controlling, not just what to put in there. What do the different Thrust paramenters control? cPropEfficiency?

And why do sensors detection curves have more than one value? :hmm: I'm still stumped on what each some of these paraments are controlling :damn: Can you put a little notation out to the side of some of the values about what the value is doing? :ping:

Bellman 09-18-05 10:31 AM

I second that - it would be nice to hear of whats and whys as well as the much appreciated 'hows'

jsteed 09-18-05 11:07 AM

Hi Bellman & Deathblow,

Actually, I thought of doing that while I was writing the tutorial. However I would still be writing it if I tried to include all that information. My goal was to get something out so people could add their own, favorite units.

Your request is still a good one. But what I will do is write a short description of each individual db and give my understanding of how each parameter works, or in some cases doesn't work. I'll start with the sensor and thrust db's since those were ones you specifically mentioned. I'll do the others as I have time.

In the mean time, you can click on one of the edit boxes in the form view of the db. At the bottom, in the status line, is a short description of the parameter.

cheers, jsteed
