Thanks for that number, Engel. I couldn't be without SH3, so I went out and bought the DVD that same night. However, I'll call D2D anyway for the new key (hopefully). Just in case!

Just back up your SH3 registry entries on cd after installing and registering the game. Then if you format your computer or whatever, you don't have to worry about limited activations. You only have to install the registries again (2 I think). To save the registries, type regedit in the run slot under the start menu. Look under Hkey_current user, then software, then Ubisoft, then SH3. Right click on the registries, then export to desktop. Burn the registries to cd. Now you have your legal backup registration that never expires.

That's a great idea nvdrifter, don't know why it never ocurred to me. I edited the registry, but only to remove the ubisoft entries in case they had been corrupted or were simply incorrect. I never thought to save export them out. Before switching machines shortly, I'll do just that. Thanks for the suggestion!!

I can't believe that many thought this would ever be a high selling release. It has great appeal to those of us with an interest in submarines and warfare of this era. Otherwise your casual PC gamer ,as I see it, would not bother with it. Too many other "arcady" offerings out there. What we see as a routine patrol, with days between sightings, most would describe as boring as watching grass grow. The number 30,000 itself is a rather interesting figure and my Tibetian friend would have no difficulty explaning it. He would observe that 30,000 U-Boatmen lost their lives in the service and that number meshes most neatly with all us reincarnated submariners who bought SHIII. :shifty: And like Ripley said...belive it or not. :yep::nope: |
When my D2D activations ran out I just went to the D2D support site and e mailed them, explained my problem and they sent me a new key. The D2D support site uses a unique login for just the support site, so that could be your problem if you can't log in to the support site. Hope that helps. |
Activations problem
Have a look at <Edit>. It solved my problem when I moved to UK and could not use my D2D copy. Unfortunately I had to reformat soon after so bought a DVD, but <Edit> still saves me having to enter a key. Try it, there's nothing illegal about doing it for your own use, aft er all you paid for the thing!:arrgh!:

Activations problem
Sorry, I broke the rules,unwittingly.
Anyone want to contact me privately? |
Gizzmoe: greatly appreciate the softhanded response. Too many mods simply delete post, and ban user and refuse to explain. You fixed the problem, advised the user what they did wrong, and left it at that (presuming first offense).
Props! |
