That's certainly true. 1730-1810 was the golden age of uniform fashion. The British looked good during the American Revolution as well.

So there you have it. The side with the best uniforms are actually going to lose. Took Napoleon some time before he met his Moscow and Waterloo, but aye, he did.

This is a cool uniform:

I beg to differ. While I will not argue about any "cool"ness or not, it isn't quite classy. :rotfl:

"Classy" like beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Personally i think nazi uniforms are overly gaudy.

I've always liked the CCCPs uniforms, although the Germans probably came a very close second.

Sure, if you want to *win* a war. :rotfl:

Now fascism, that's got style. Uniforms, buildings, parades, spectacle, dramatic collapse within fifteen years... :arrgh!:

Slighly off topic, but have a look at this side:

If no one's convinced yet of how the Germans beat the Allieds in terms of fashion, I have only one name:

Spike Milligan.

How could we possibly win?

Beery 08-16-05 04:42 PM

Oh come on! The German uniforms of WW2 are typical Nazi - flashy but no class - like a 1970s lounge lizard suit. I'm sure if it had been around at the time they would have gone in for polyester in a big way. I mean those tank uniforms are ridiculous, and the jack boots, give me a break!

I think Germans had the best looking unforms of the ww2 era. They were also very innovative with camouflage smocks and helmet covers.

I don't think today's Bundeswehr uniforms are bad. They have similar resemblance as earlier german uniforms (imperial germany, third reich). Even BW's camouflage uniform has pretty similar pattern to waffen-ss uniforms.

I think even today german army follows at least a bit their "classic" line. It's a lot better than our's in Finland, I think.

Hmm, pretty sad... my first post is in this quite useless OT topic, although I have been quite an active reader here in the real SH3 game topics... :P

Well the Scots invented the Ghillie suit, which was the most innovative camouflage outfit ever made. And the Germans lagged behind the British in terms of innovation: just look at dazzle camouflage - a brilliant British innovation from WW1 that the Germans (and other nations) borrowed heavily from to get their 'splinter' camouflage of WW2. I think the Germans get a lot of misplaced credit for merely following trends that were already well established by other nations.

The German army learned from the British and the deck gun reloading time is a shot every 5 hrs. Could be very interesting a WW2 book wrote by you. (should be "written" but I cannot compare to a genius).

Well that uniform style does predate the nazis, who just took German imperial uniforms and spruced them up a bit.

Hmm, it seems trolls abound!

Where do you get five hours from? If we're comparing our journalistic abilities, then I guess a WW2 book 'wrote' by you would be both illegible and grossly inaccurate.
