Hey D Jones..
I have just started a new career from Pearl Harbor..my boat is USS Tuna (SS-203)
I have to patrol not very far from Japan I refueled at Wake shortly after the air force already attacked me... I have just passed Markus Island and again harassed by the air force :D:D... see you soon

D-Jones 07-01-23 04:31 PM

Yup! The campaign's working fine. DON'T play the Sub School torpedo attack though.

Thanks!

Just an update and 1 more question (lol)--the mod's running fine now (so far). It's a great mod and actually addresses the problems I had with SH4 and many mods. Even having most of my torpedoes running under the targeted ship's understandable as it's historically accurate. The one "problem" I'm having is that when I zoom in the periscope, the enemy ship is HUGE. It fills the periscope lens at 1500 yds or less, which makes it difficult to get a range reading or even to accurately identify them, especially at night. Is this supposed to be this way, or is it just me? Any answers would be appreciated.

Have a great 4th!

that's the zoom factor on your 'scopes.
i believe that there are two zoom levels for each 'scope and it depends on your mod set(s) at to what they might be set to.
Stock has them at 1 and 4.
TMO changes them to 1.5 and 6.0.
The Targeting OTC correction mod leaves them as that.

so, like always, the answer is: it depends.

I spoke too soon. I'm getting a lot of CTDs. Every time it gets "busy." Maybe it's Ubisoft's SH4 Gold doing it. They're always a little shaky. I'll try it with Steam when I get home.

Anyway, have a good Independence Day.

CTD's when things get busy sounds like your 4 GB utility is not set for SH4.exe.
also, and do not laugh, your Windows-managed memory may have become too fragmented for SH4 to properly use it. rebooting would eliminate that. ( i told you not to laugh)

:Kaleun_Salute:

Happy 4th to you also! :Kaleun_Cheers:

Scope & CtD

Hey D Jones & Kaleun Marco...
D Jones I don't believe in the steam version.. on the contrary.. but let's wait and see there may be surprises...:D:D

For the periscope it also depends on your screen resolution.... your screen size... keep these factors in mind
1500 yards = 1371.6 meters I think it's a very close distance to shoot .... I would add that for your shot of death it limits things ...
especially if you shoot several times.. we don't know what reason (missed shot.. defective torpedo)..... it's really difficult to approach an escorted convoy without being detected... except at night, which is what BH wants here I think...

Here perisope attacks

Here periscope observation

Now the CtDs I have just had 2 already But without gravitating and that in rainy weather... I noticed... I don't know why..!!! in addition the CtD is not frank... I would say that it takes its time... there must be some corrections to be made, we will see that with BH when it is available... the FoTRS team which has a great experience... remains available and responds to technical problems... (I thank them for that) does not prevent you from playing mods...
I will add that the first version of this mod was without problem but I was under windo 7

The scope "problem" has become secondary, but my load order is--

TM Overhaul 2.5-BH
Nav Map Make-Over
NMMO
TMO Update
EAX Clang Splash
BBP Pearl Harbor Pre War TMO
Pre-Pearl Patch
Torpedoes-Early

That's it, all of which came bundled with TMO 2.5 Overhau. Don't know if I'm missing something important. My screen res is set to my laptop's default of 1366 x 768. Maybe it is something as simple as rebooting or defragging. Hope so. I really like this mod. I've never had a CTD problem with stock or any mod.

Thanks for the replies.

TMO ala Bubblehead has some CTD issues. i thought, through a previous post, that you were moving over to TMO 2.5 ala Ducimus. There is no telling the cause of some of the CTD's in the version you are using.

as far as the 'scope is concerned, BH boosted the zoom-in to 13:1 and that is probably the reason your viewscope is really, really zoom-ed in.

Kal_Maximus_U669 07-04-23 03:24 PM

Hey D Jones Greetings..:salute:

I remind you that your "Pre-Pearl" patch will have to be removed from the list the next time you return to port...this is specified in the BH doc..
As for your resolution, it's small but it's a qualitative advantage, especially graphically for this game that dates... you have good eyes mine are starting to date...:har::har:

I would like to add that for observation personally, I always observe a target from afar, this allows greater discretion, a better evaluation of the target in order to optimize decision-making...

kind regards Kal Maximus..:salute:

D-Jones 07-05-23 04:41 PM

Well, last try I guess. I keep getting CTDs with TMO-BH (I don't even know what it's actual name is). I can go after individual ships, but when it gets "busy", e.g., a Task Force--CTD. I haven't had this problem with stock or any other mod. Just this one. My "load order" is--

TMO 2.0 BH update (whatever)
Nav Map Makeover
NMMO
TMO whatever Patch
EAX

That's it! Kept it as simple as possible.

This is a great mod. It seems to touch all the bases. Imo, FOTRSU is incredibly well done, but it's like shooting fish in a barrel. A a DD or depth charge never got near me or even knew I was there, even if I run at flank at periscope depth. The original TMO's great but if you survive the early days of the war, it becomes redundant. You blow up unescorted merchants. THIS one seems to have the right mix! A shame that I can't seem to run it. Is there ant support for it? Can 1.0 still be downloaded??

Thanks.

Kal_Maximus_U669 07-05-23 06:06 PM

Hey D Jones
I'll check tomorrow if I still have it...not sure but I'll let you know tomorrow...

D-Jones 07-05-23 07:46 PM

Thanks, KM. I didn't mean to be tough on the other mods. btw. In most ways they're brilliant. This is a personal preference thing and is highly subjective.
