Campaign

Missions re-arranged. ASUW_Reinforce and SSN_Reinforce merged into ASUW_strike, SSN_Wolfpack and SSBN_Wolfpack. Sub_resupply merged into Ship_resupply. So adding the custom SSBN_wolfpack it’s still 10 mission categories. Main reason of change is seems like the campaign engine doesn’t quite like 0.05 mission frequencies.

PLAN ship types reduced to only 3: Luhu, Luda3 and Jiangwei. Integrated into normal missions and form the “medium” level in the hi-lo ASW mix. No more PLAN freighters. Main reason of change: target sorting list is getting “long and distinguished”…

Added Be-12 Mail, Mi-14 Haze and Y-8 to MPA list. They can actually show up in combat.

More force composition adjustments. No more Riga, replaced by Jiangwei. No more Akula2 – not enough difference from Akula1.

Vessel upgrade

Weapons:

Added UUM-125 ASW missile, Mk-50 torpedo.

Cavitation particle added for SS-N-15/16. They at least can be heard when launched.

Sensors:

PLAN sonars in use in campaign slightly bumped – at least closer to their original copies or stated comparable counterparts.

Added BQQ-5E and BQQ-10.

Shark Nose hull mounted sonar. MGK-400 “Rubikon”. NATO naming calls MGK-400/500/520/540 all “Shark Gill” so used Shark Nose to differentiate.

Shark Rib hull mounted sonar. Shark Gill plus hull mounted flank array, +1 sensitivity in passive mode.

Salmon Beak hull mounted sonar, Salmon Tail towed array. MGK-540M “Kizhuch”. Kizhuch – Coho Salmon - “They also develop a large kype (hooked beak) during spawning.” (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coho_salmon) So Salmon and beak it is O.O

Vessels:

All subs active sonar reflection calculated – the default values I find a bit coarse and sometimes off.

Subs’ surface and submerged speeds changed iaw www.russianships.info

Subs’ missile load dialed back a bit – basically 1 missile per tube and no weapon if it’s 650mm tubes without supporting RPK-7 Veter.

All subs tube reload time bumped to 120 seconds.

All Soviet SSN/GN/BNs have SS-N-16 and USET-80. (The Alfa is back to AI config. AI cannot use missile in torpedo tubes.)

Sierra: Sonar Shark Gill -> Shark Rib.

Akula: Cavitation param: 19,-90. Sonar Shark Gill -> Salmon Beak. Shark Tail -> Salmon Tail.

Charlie2: Sonar Shark Gill -> Shark Nose.

Oscar: Self noise 132 -> 127. (949A/AM)

Deltal3: Sonar Shark Gill -> Shark Nose. Towed array deleted.

Kilo imp: + SS-N-15 missile x2. Cavitation param: 36,-340. Self-noise 120->110. Sonar: Shark Gill -> Shark Nose.

Kilo: + SS-N-15 missile x2. Torpedo TEST-71M->TEST-71MK. Cavitation param: 40,-340. Self noise 125->120. Sonar: Shark Gill -> Shark Nose.

Song: Cavitation param: 36,-340.

Ming: Cavitation param: 40,-340. Self noise 125->118.

Tango: Cavitation param: 40,-340. Torpedo TEST-71->TEST-71MK.

Poti: Sonar Wolf Paw -> Bull Nose. Torpedo SET-40 -> UMGT-1.

Well, the force with google is pretty strong, despite all of its controversies of late.... it's got noise levels on victor1, charlie1, yankee and delta2. (i see its already been mentioned in one of the threads here!)

https://apps.dtic.mil/dtic/tr/fulltext/u2/c010105.pdf

Made them into a graph.

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/cT...T=w820-h742-no

The report unfortunately only said victor and charlie submarine, and as of 1977 there're both victor 1 and 2, charlie 1 and 2. Assumed 'twas victor1/charlie1 since their curves are smooth and beautiful, while the newer Deta2/Yankee's curves are a bit rugged, so guessing the victor/charlie had a lot of samples to average out the data.

Anyway the most important thing I learned was one sub could be quieter than the other while slow, but noisier when fast, when comparing yankee v victor/yankee v charlie. Also the victor is just quieter than charlie at all ranges which in CW they have the same noise. hmmm...
