missing "whatever.dll" install aborted links origin clarified

Just to clarify the links I provided in my previous post are from THEBERBSTER's post page to include the mediafire link.

I examined the files and they contain copies of what the dialogue boxes are complaining about that is missing for their installs.

This may include install of the game itself or in my case install of a particular mod. Before replacing files:

1-INSURE main game is IN some other folder NOT "C:\Program Files" instead install in "C:\games"or some such

2 if spaces in pathname type errors occur, remove spaces between in pathnames replacing spaces with "_" . ie "C:\games\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter III" with "C:\games\Ubisoft\Silent_Hunter_III"

3 replace "files not found" type errors with like named file from the downloaded archive found in the links. I.e. if sh3.exe not found, backup, then overwrite that file with sh3.exe from the archive.

I had a problem with "sh3 not found" and used a similar archive from another site that had the files the installer was complaining about and got past the error

While it is setup to remove Starforce Protection, it has updated SH3 files in it that you could place in your directory to see if it gets past those "file not found" errors
Unpack and copy the files reported missing into your installation folder.

SteamSub, I quoted Blutenburg also, because you had quoted him on the previous page. His install is a Steam install, which is what I have, and like Sailor Steve (he plays bass guitar, btw) mentioned to Blutenburg, the game might already be at v1.4.b, which mine was when I loaded up my Steam version. So if you've got a Steam version, you don't have to jump through those hoops. If you ~don't~ have a Steam version, then I am at a loss. I have an old Star-farce version disk, but it is buried somewhere in a box or a drawer or somewhere that I cannot find... sorry. :salute:

Thanks, Mine I got from UBISOFT directly and some one else prior had a difficulty with a UBISOFT install trying to add a mod, with the sh3.exe not installed error, and explained how it was overcome.

It is solved in my case by insuring spaces in the install path were replaced (that error went away)
then by replacing the sh3.exe, and the mod worked from the star force archive found on THEBERBSTERs page ( see post 14)

Sorry 'bout that. I misunderstood. I took it you were still having trouble with it. My eyes were drunk on too much Silent Hunter last night... :salute:

Hi THEBERBSTER and all! Thanks for the useful help and tips. My game is up and running, so it seems ok now I think. After finishing the training/exam academy stuff with exellence (and had no issues playing the basic LSH3 setting as I read them), I have now added some mods through the JSGME and started a Campaign with a name and the "Erprobungstelle" "flotilla" and settings from the LSH3 2015 Commander Start. Then what reads below happens each time I start...

I do get some weird messages when starting the game (from Commander Start program). First when loading the game I get this message:

Menu ID not found: 0x52000000!

Then as a "solution" I push that message "OK" button until it's gone, and the game seems ok..

Then when starting the Erprobungsstelle (campaign) I get this message before im in the boat:

Menu ID not found: 0x3ffff003!

I do the same to this message and push the "OK" button until it's gone.. So Things seem ok, but inside the Binocular view there is a graphic "glitch" dividing one fouth of the view to a different view being one of the men on the bridge or something..

My Nvidia setting ARE as this Guide suggests:
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...99&postcount=7

So, what is wrong with my "setup" at the moment?

I see some talk of setting the Windows 10 to a Windows 7 compatibility.. Where/how do I do that?

^^^^^ right click your SH3.exe and in properties tab, check windows 7 compatibility and start as administrator box.
