Yeah, sure... that's your story and you're going to stick to it, eh?...

Having lived in Hollywood for over 40 years, I've heard a lot of the rumors that later turned out to be fact; there is an awful lot of male on male sexual harassment in the entertainment business rumored to be going on for many, many decades. There are several very powerful men in the upper reaches of the entertainment business who are known for their gay sexual inclinations and their wealth and power have long protected them, just as wealth and power have shielded hetero offenders. In addition to the wealth/power shield, there is a network of "fixers" who serve to preserve the secrecy of the offenders, usually PIs who will do just about anything to protect their clients; the best known to the public was the PI, Anthony Pellicano, who handled Michael Jackson's affairs when Jackson was accused of child molestation; the guy is a real piece of work, in the old Private Dick mold:

http://articles.latimes.com/2005/jan...me-pellicano12

The activities of people like Pellicano are not the exception in Hollywood or the rest of the entertainment world, they are normal SOP. I have, over the years, personally heard and seen a good many things that would probably shock a lot of people about some of their favorite celebrities; a lot of the activity has either been swept under the rug or ignored because the offender was/is 'too powerful' to speak out against. I don't think this current rash of scandals is really going to change a lot of things in the long run, but it is going to make a lot of people as yet unmentioned in the media very, very uncomfortable...

I don't know whether this made the news outside of the UK:

Apparently the guy has since been released. There's a welter of allegation going on over here right now, implicating celebs, politicians, anyone in public life it seems, but in some places just being a westerner is enough.

Sexual harassment: More stars facing accusations

Update:
Quote:

Two Oscar-winning actors, a Hollywood filmmaker and a senior US news editor are the latest high-profile figures to be accused of sexual harassment.
The actors Kevin Spacey and Dustin Hoffman have been accused of sexual misconduct and have issued apologies.
Meanwhile, six women have accused Brett Ratner, director of the Rush Hour film series and X-Men: The Last Stand, of sexual harassment or misconduct.

The rise is high.

Sorry don't see post 16

I understand alcohol was a heavy factor in his early days. I heard that continuous heavy drinking leads to occasional blackouts.

Not an excuse, mind you, but I understand his life has changed in that regard. His not knowing, and his sincere apology, and recovery to be doing what he is doing is definitely a step forward.

I would not be surprised that, if he did what is reported, he has no recollection and can only sincerely make amends.

No one is perfect, to judge another before we judge ourselves AND work on ourselves is no permission.

I couldn't be the first to cast a stone...

This moment is no longer a hashtag; it’s the lancing of an infected wound. What’s happening isn’t slowing down; if anything, it’s accelerating.
I just saw it as an advertisement on TV without knowing anyone that the ad involved, but now it is shocking and pleasing at the same time that the world we live in cares. :yep:

Just personaly, I avoid rehashing troubling events. I have become (better anyway) accepting of the imperfections of others.

I don't have much tolerance of people knowingly hurting others, but sometimes people just don't fully understand. I hope they find understanding quickly through programs or treatment.

Rehashing via "me, too" just upsets me. I have learned to accept it as I work to help others. It is probably one of the top items my God wants me to do.

Paz de la Huerta: Actress accuses Harvey Weinstein of rape

Quote:

Another actress has come forward with an allegation that US producer Harvey Weinstein raped her.
Boardwalk Empire star Paz de la Huerta told Vanity Fair that Weinstein raped her twice in New York in 2010.
The magazine says the alleged assaults could see charges brought against the film mogul because they fall within New York's statute of limitations for rape in the first degree.

When it comes to sexual assault, I will cast the first stone.

Even back in my drinking days, when I used to get pretty wasted, I never sexually assaulted anyone.

Entertainment company Netflix has severed ties with Kevin Spacey, star of its House of Cards show, amid a number of sex assault allegations against him.
Netflix said it would hold talks with the producers to see if production, which was suspended this week, could resume without Spacey.
Netflix also said it would not release Spacey's film about writer Gore Vidal.
Meanwhile, police in the UK have opened an investigation into the American actor over an alleged sexual assault.

Kevin Spacey: New allegations emerge

New allegations of sexual harassment and predatory behaviour towards men and women by Kevin Spacey have emerged.
The claims, spanning from the mid-1980s to 2016, raise further questions about the US actor's conduct in the decades he worked in Hollywood and as artistic director at London's Old Vic theatre.
