Well you're half right. An early Sargo SJ radar is actually the SJRadarAntennaEarlyGato which is the NSS_EarlySJ_Mount. I'm beginning to think that the file structure was done by a blind monkey, and the proofreading done by his equally blind cousin. I went back and edited my post adding more colors to better show the flow between the different files.

Half right is also half wrong, right? :yeah:
Okay, so I changed the Y value to 4 on node 103, early SJ mount, nothing. Changed it back and edited node 106, early SJ "antena" (spelling!) to 4, that works; https://scontent-ord1-1.xx.fbcdn.net...cf&oe=599220EC But as expected looks really weird; https://scontent-ord1-1.xx.fbcdn.net...1a&oe=5954924E with the invisible mast. What we really need is a 3Dcanvas guru to make the mast about 10 feet taller, then we can move the dish to the top of that mast. |
Okay, so the original Y number on node 106 was 0.5875699, changed that to 1.5, still too much. So I went to 0.6, 0.7, settled on 0.8. At 45 foot depth in a light swell the radar stays on, 50 feet the waves break over and cut it off, periscope depth it's off, which is pretty much what we want. Here's what that looks like at 45 feet;
https://scontent-ord1-1.xx.fbcdn.net...d4&oe=5990F0D2 Need to somehow get a taller mast or figure out how to make the dish invisible, but for now I can live with it. Start new career, wait for heavy seas and see how that does on the surface. Whatever the numbers are, they're not meters, basically I raised this 0.22 meters AKA 22 centimeters, which is about 8 1/2 inches in real money. Whatever these numbers actually are it's more like 10 feet higher. |
:timeout: :haha:

Okay, update on this, I bought the 1.5 patch and installed, that fixes the lazy watchstander on the toggle switch - 1.4 a wave shuts it off and it stays off, 1.5 when the wave passes it automatically comes back on, which was my main complaint.
Just for giggles I tried manually patching without the U-boat stuff - made a copy of 1.4, then copied SH4.exe and the root *'act files from 1.5 into that folder to overwrite the 1.4. CTD. Copied the \Data\Menu folder from 1.5 to 1.4, for a US sub career that appears to be working, and the automatic switch on when the dish breaks the surface works. So the automatic "turn the radar back on, dummy" feature is probably in one of the .act files, or the executable itself. Just for giggles I uploaded the green PPI scope; http://www.subsim.com/radioroom//dow...o=file&id=5179 Since I've never actually seen one with a red screen. |
